i am glad they are finally getting released for those who collect them. but the proportions just seem so off on the NA molds.

the top looks bloaded and stumpy at the same time and than the legs are a tad undersized and thin.

 

Can someone point me over to pic(s) of H27 with THS-02 Optimus Prime (Hybrid Style)

 

It would go better with MS Megatron. That figure has a barrel torso too.

MS Primes are slim and NA Megatron is too.

Edit: also the black of the Nemesis Prime hides the double chest pretty well.

 

Hell yeah hes lookin awesome, chest isn't too bad there either. Cant wait to get my hands on him

 

If we're not getting a black trailer w/Nemesis/Black Convoy, hopefully (for me) that means we could be getting a G2 Prime w/black trailer? Or hell, just release a black trailer with stickers and let us use it however we want.

 

i'm puzzled why they went with the UM prime legs for Nemesis and SG prime instead of the original OP design???

 

Nemesis looks good, and I almost prefer some design elements of the UM-style legs (the wheels becoming the heel is cool).

...But if I'm going to get an Optimus figure that's aiming for full-on toon accuracy and proportions, I want it in cartoon colours.  

 

They are manufacturing with UM mold, so that's the main reason these repaints are released first with UM prime leg.
This might be their cheaper Nemesis. I guess there will be Nemesis and SG repaints with the OP mold at a higher price.

 

That translucent red looks amazing. Looks like the matrix was changed from green to red as well.

I don't think he looks too stumpy in hand but I certainly can see how others think that. Here's a comparison photo between MS Megatron, NA Ultra Magnus (Core), and MS Optimus v1.

it's not that Prime looks stumpy, but for me the proportions are off between the ratio of the torso and the legs. NA made the torso a little too short while the legs too long. if they had increased the mid section a little taller and the legs correspondingly shorter, i think it would look much better. i photoshopped the image and animated a before/after to illustrate my point:

when everyone is saying stumpy they are referring to his torso.

 

I think the issue is the proportions of the parts of the torso, rather than the size of the actual torso itself.

NA uses squarer boob windows than the more letterbox-shaped Magic Square ones, so the odd ratio of window-to-grille is what people are seeing as ‘off’.

TIKnTIN’s edit is an improvement, but not necessarily because he’s increasing the size of chest per se, but because he’s making the grille proportionally larger than the window boobs are.

  the definition of stumpy is "short and thick". and in objects with legs, the reference usually is the legs being short compared to the main body. for example in the Corgi breed of dogs.

NA OP is none of those things. in fact he's the right height in the photo comparison with MS OP and MS megs. but NA OP is long legged and the torso is too short, particularly the mid section.

of course if they had adjusted OP to the better proportions like i've suggested, the whole transformation would fail as the bot ab grill is only a portion of the full truck grill in alt. the other smaller portion of the grill is behind the the faux chest with the sculpt of the truck bumper.

They still have Gold Lagoon, Clear, Clear versions of all of these, and then finally Optimus actually.~
