I’ve got very fond memories of this having got it for something like my 5th birthday. I can now see it’s a completely different bike but it still gave me the proper nostalgia feels.

At some point, I will have to pick up the AM police motorcycle, along with a lego classic space LL924 set, another birthday present from my youth…

I wonder if it's more shipping chaos with the JP set - when I was setting up a return of my amazon.com one, they said they couldn't offer a replacement, as it was out of stock and no stock due in in the near future, but shortly after that, it's back in stock there. So maybe they got what was destined for the UK originally?
Or just the usual distribution mess. Probably that, tbh...

He’s not doing so bad actually, mind you he’s been displayed in super mode for the best part of 3 months so he’s due a dusting. I might take him down and have a mess around with him tonight.

I had 3 copies of the first run as I intended to display all 3 modes, however that seemed to be an error on my part considering all 3 had the reported QC with the main copy I messed around with having the least severe of them until the second run came around. All 3 of the first run have replacement parts now, with the first one having them installed and it does hold up okay but I genuinely feel the second run feels a lot less chalkier and sturdy, most notable in the ratchets and slider joints.

It’s my favourite Megatron design, but being an Armada kid I am biased to these designs. I think that they’ll have done alright on the QC for Megatron if they’ve learned from Prime, it was an expensive mistake for them by the looks of things since they shipped out the replacements free of charge which was wonderful of them.

The only thing about Megatron I’m personally worried about is how his tank tread shoulders work in robot mode, the joint doesn’t look like it’ll be very sturdy but I’m happy to be surprised. I will be paying a lot of care to that area in particular when posing him.

If you end up liking Megatron and even more deeply regret not getting Prime I’m happy to sell you one of my fixed first run copies?  

 

@nice sideburns You have no idea how much I pestered my parents for that AM Bike, from memory I ended up with a G1 Prowl instead….I was clearly following a theme!

Quick question for the customiser/modding experts in here… what’s the best thing for removing old stickers from G1 figures please? Got some new ones for Rodimus and Cyclonus but unsure where to start….

I've used Sticky Stuff Remover before.

Remove what you can before using it though. You only need a tiny amount on an ear bud as its really oilly.

 

Lighter fluid is also good

 

One Baleful Gazing later, with a side of desperate Googlewhacking for inspiration, meet HANEKIRI (羽斬り) or (very loosely translated back into english) WINGSTRIKE!

I went Weeb for keeping the Ninja theme from WINGFINGER (A ninja made of boooone, deeeper than the sea...), it more exactly translates as Wing/Feather Slash but "Strike" sounds better in anglo to me (and nods to "birdstrike"), I stole it from Rurouni Kenshin where I learned "Hitokiri" is "mankiller" ("person slasher"), and it appeals to me as it is very much like one of the Pun names a Budiansky might come up with in the 80s (Hurr hurr, sounds a bit like Harakiri) that absolutely would not fly (pun intended) these days!
I may drop the cultural appropriation and just run with the "Westernised" version, or I might keep him dual named.

Part of me wishes I had the budget to just do some Random dye dipping with more Wingfingers, just to see what other weirdness might occur with this crazy chemical reaction, I mean, come on, cream/off-white to PURPLE?! WTF?

 

Happened to me when I moved in, giant Samsung had to sit there for weeks until the countless console-holding unit arrived.

For the work you'll have to do on the shoulders and maybe modding the Ark's middle so it stays together better, I'd say 80 or lower.

Spose it keeps subs ticking over for them, for me I think I'm gonna catch up with the Marvel stuff and Mando then kill Plus.

I did, useful as bones the others can wield but bot mode is growing on me.

So far the focus has been on the larger sets like B. Bay and the medieval castle, they're amazing but they could sell so many of the smaller space and Robin Hood sets etc. Stick them on their website!
