I’m not sure that I need Victory Saber to be able to do pull-my-finger jokes all that often

No, it doesn't, because the fragility of translucent plastic is massively overstated by fans. A static blade piece with no moving parts or physical strain aside from slotting into a hole is not automatically a risk of breakage.

Kingdom Rodimus' hands are awesome, though, and would add so much personality and posing options to Star Saber. Posable hands usually suck or look awkward but his were a near perfect balance.

Giant robots are never not cool when pointing, especially Commanders.

    He does have poseable hands?

Plus, a more accurate breakdown would be:
1 Leader Class+ figure (Victory Leo + His BFG)
1 Commander Class figure (Star Saber isn't an old leader, and is only slightly shorter than Jetfire, yet has more engineering)
    1 Micromaster 2 pack
1 Stand that would probably cost 10-15 dollars on it's own

Totaling that all together, it comes to about 150$ with a conservative estimate, and 165$ with a liberal estimate.

Idk man I've had clear stuff break into pieces on me pretty often from minor play. Hasbro's current mix seems to have issues because of how quickly id breaks. I mean, both PotP and SS86 Jazz have issues where the plastic starts to break without being touched.

They were parts subject to stress. Hinges and pegs that were a bit too tight. Also the plastic is thin in the areas of breakage. But with this one as long as the blade is thick and all you're doing is just putting a peg into a hole, you don't have much to worry about.

Again, I have had clear plastic weapon handles snap off with minimal use and it is very annoying.

Any of my clear plastic stuff from MP or Unicron Trilogy-ish days are still holding really strong after many many years.

Clear plastic after 2014/2015 is 50/50.

We never like to admit or realize that sometimes we ham hand things. But I can't say any more without knowing specifics. Also when it comes to engineering the circumstances aren't always the same. The blade itself is slotting into the hilt I believe, so it isn't even like the clear plastic itself is getting too stressed. If it's thick enough then that's even less worry.

I can count on one hand all of the clear plastic that's ever broken on me that wasn't my fault and I've been collecting practically non stop since 2009. It's just not a thing I worry about.

The only clear plastic bit of a Transformer I remember breaking was the clear part in the shield of one of my siege refraktors, and that was only because I hurriedly put him in my pocket with some other stuff.

I'm still kind of baffled that this won't be in my hands for another year yet. Shouldn't the logistics of these things be pretty much all-but-finished by the time the crowdfund goes live? Not actually having the molds manufactured, per se, but pretty much set to go? A year seems...excessive.

For real. Have some of you folks never owned any lego or something? Cause as someone who was a fan of the brick long before I was ever a fan of the bot, it utterly bewilders me how much people on this site are terrified about translucent plastic breaking.

Yeah I have no concerns about the blade being clear plastic underneath the paint. Clear plastic joints are often noted as a bad idea but this should be fine.

For what it’s worth aside from poor Beast Wars Inferno who was cursed with clear plastic sockets for the ball joints everything else I’ve had with clear plastic has held up fine. In particular my SS86 Jazz is perfectly fine and I haven’t been that delicate when handling it. An overly tight pinned hinge worries me more than clear plastic.

They weren’t sinking more money into him until he was funded. They need time for refinements and the queue for factory time is very long.

Dude, if the logistics were pretty much done by the time the crowdfunding went live, they might as well put it out at mass market instead of crowdfunding it.

A year is lenient. Lead times for toy production to in hand averages at about 18 months.

That's assuming that the average mass market Transformers fan would know who Victory Saber was. If Hasbro could have released this through the mass market, they certainly would have. This is a project specifically aimed at the more dedicated fanbase that had enough money to have a $600+ for Unicron held up for over year, during a pandemic.

I mean...this isn't their first rodeo in HasLab, nor the Transformers brand with HasLab, no less. Other than Cookie Monster, every single HasLab project has been funded. You think there would be some fast track to production. By now, it has certainly been proved that the Marvel, Star Wars, and Transformers fans will put good money down and have it held up for a year at minimum. The market definitely exists. I think we're past the point of uncertainty...

Now, if they were making a jumbo sized Count or Grover puppet, I'd understand the hesitancy.

the point stands, they wouldn't have made it HasLab if they were as sure of its success as you seem to think they are

if they didn't think it would do well at retail but were certain there was enough fan demand to already be confident enough to put that much momey into it, they would've just released as a Pulse exclusive item or something

it being HasLab in and of itself means they're not confident enough in its success to put that much investment into it up front
