Regarding MS OP I agree. They look awesome next to each other with their beefy proportions.

 

That price was so good that I picked up a second copy of Despotron so I can try my hand at a little custom work to make him somewhat more toon accurate. I thinking:

— modding the fusion cannon from Infinite Transformation MP Megatron to fit on Despotron
— either modding the MoDel Model-001 MP-36 Head Upgrade Kit to fit Despotron or modding the X-Transbots Apollyon helmet to work with the Despotron faces

Never have done much modding before so this could be interesting.

 

I do believe they did some in SG if memory serves from the same company.

It’s an absolutely great figure isn’t it? I was blown away with it when it first came out and even after MP-36 I still find it to be a great alternate take on Megs. And a steal at that Black Friday sale price. My son and I each have one.

 

Got him a few days ago, he is fantastic. I love his beefy robot mode proportions and the transformation was pretty easy.

The joints for the feet on my copy seem to be getting loose as the figure keeps leaning forward. Any suggestions on how to fix the ankle joints?

 

Did you use Pledge Floor Care on it? It's magical.

 

My Despotron has taken a tumble from the shelf (damn those ankles) and snapped one of the elbow joints.

Pretty damn gutted.

 

I too have experienced a loss to my Megatron family recently. I express my sincerest condolences.

 

I've had him for a couple of years now and I actually prefer him over Appolyon and the toon Takara Megatron. I sold Appolyon, kept my toon Megatron to go with the toon bots and kept MT Megatron for the non toon bots.

I'm looking to see if I can salvage it, bit I think I'll to try some kind of pinning, glue or epoxy won't cut it I don't think.

 

MS Optimus Prime needs an MP-10 deco and then it would look extra good next to Despotron.

 

Pardon to bump an old thread, but I finally bit the bullet on this guy after so long of wondering if he could be the one. Well after some thought and a massive sale, I caved and got him. And honestly I'm glad I did, especially for that price. Want to thank the guys in a previous thread about the different Megatron's and I really do think he looks and feels great. Yeah he doesn't have a sword or the handgun like MP-36 (I can fix that), but what counts is his poseability and proportions. I've grown to love his face, I may take a hobby knife to the eye lid bottom angles one day, but I'm looking to get the best decepticon symbol for the chest and some good sized hands. His waist swivel is on the stiff side, I haven't moved it yet, but I'm confident that it'll be just fine after handling him some more.

More pics hopefully to come. With this I think I can retire MP-36 as the definitive Megatron in robot mode until another figure comes around and does a 100% 1986 movie accurate look in the right places.

Now I just need a Light of Freedom for the same deal so I can give MP-56 a rest too.
Need some Seeker bois too.

Also I JUST found out TE-01 and MP-44 are a little taller than him, which makes things weirder for me. May have to remedy that.

Yeah that was the only thing wrong. The shipping was apparently on hold because of the pandemic making regular airmail grounded so you need to pay for the extra special shipping to bypass the regulation. Probably won't do it again, but better than paying for more.
