    TL;DR I love this figure.

It's funny, as a kid I absolutely loved Galvatron. His rebirth sequence was burned in my brain, I though Galvatron was such an improvement over Megatron (I hated that Megatron turned into a gun for someone else to use, and that he always tolerated Starscream, so Galvatron having an independent alt mode and his first major action to be to eliminate Starscream really scored a ton of points with me), but as a naive kid, I was always upset that everyone got his colors wrong. Gray toys? What is this nonsense, he's purple!

When I was in college, thanks to a friend, I rediscovered the franchise through the Marvel comics. Rhythms of Darkness Galvatron was something new and I liked this very different from the Sunbow cartoon take on the character. It was during the pandemic that I finally got around to reading the UK comics, and finally reading Target: 2006 and Time Wars for myself, well, that solidified my love for the alternate version(s) of the character.

For far too many years, we didn't have a good Galvatron toy, the less said IMHO about the Classics dumpster fire, the better. At times, I'd use Superlink Galvatron G as a stand in, but that at best was a poor substitute (Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Superlink, but that's what the toy was, a character from a different series). I quite love the Legends Galvatron, thanks to a friend and the upgrade set from ToyHax, I blinged mine out and I'm immensely satisfied with it, but with the themed box sets during Titans Return, I kept wondering, where's my gray Galvatron? Sure Kingdom Galvatron was neat and all, but I really wanted a gray one. (I even started a thread to gauge interest in a gray Galvatron and was surprised at how many felt as I did and wanted one) Then, like a personalized birthday present, just a day or two beforehand, the Selects version was revealed. I eagerly pre-ordered. Yeah, it's toy based, yeah it's not 100% accurate to the original toy. I don't care. One of the design elements that I like on Superlink/Energon Galvatron was the different colored headcrest. So, I was set.

Then came the delay, to which I don't blame Pulse for, but it was torment that the figure I've wanted the most was being delayed. Fortunately another poster here turned me on to the Dorkside Toys and before the week was out I had it in hand. Unfortunately, the timing couldn't have been worse, I had a life threatening infection and was in to the ER twice, but after I recovered I thoroughly enjoyed the figure. I had life get in the way, so again the pictoral and this review got delayed (started a new job among other things), but I finally made time for myself this week, so I've taken some photos and made the time for this review.

I will note, as an overall, as much as I like Hasbro's Galvatron, the cannon is IMHO, way too big. Thanks to a friend with a 3D printer and some looking online, I have a smaller custom printed cannon on my figures, but I did include pictures with the original cannon. (As an aside, I actually have several cannons, of different colors and materials, as he wanted to give me options, but this is the most recently made and one that I think looks pretty dang good.)

As to the figure itself, it has the correct shoulder assembly, I have two figures and they're both very good copies, no issues. Also unlike Kingdom Galvatron, I didn't have to shave any pegs down to fit the head into the torso and get it to close and open without issue. I quite like the transformation, it's that right balance of not being overly simple, but being the right level of complexity to change form. As with Kingdom Galvatron, you can slide the adapter into the holes in the thigh, which effectively hides it from many angles in alt mode.
Obviously, I love the character. Yes, I have the cannon on the left arm. He's evil and he's mine.

Lots of Pictures incoming! I could easily spam threads with various covers and panels, but that's not really what the feedback forum is for, so just a few pictures for funsies.

    Out of the box:

    Comparison with Other Galvatrons

If there's a deep purple Cyclonus coming as Armada as rumored, I'll get it and have two sets of the unholy trinity. I'm a sucker like that.

Great review! Really looking forward to this one as well.

Side question: What's up with that Megatron with the toy chest? Been looking for that option for a while now.

Toyhax. Labels & Stickers for WFC Netflix Megatron - Toyhax

I'm missing a few stickers as when they sent my order, they left out a sheet. They sent replacements, but my friend already stickered him up for me (I'm on a medication that can cause minor hand tremors so putting on stickers is extremely difficult for me; as a former watchmaker, he finds it fun to apply them, so he does all the decal work for me for the last 2 years) and I've never taken Megatron out again to get the last few put on, not that I think Megatron looks bad without them.

Hope you're feeling better that's the most important thing.

This galvatron is my most anticipated figure of the year even more so then black zarak. He looks as great as I knew he would. As a marvel UK galvatron fanatic he is an absolute must have.

    Congrats

Thank you for saying so. At the time it was pretty scary, but I followed the instructions, the medications worked, and made a complete recovery. Though my follow-up visit to my Doctor was more show and tell, every other Doctor I think in the practice was there asking questions and wanting to see the pictures I took of myself because of how rare it is to get. It's like chicken pox, when you get it as a kid, it's no big deal, but as an adult, it can be life threatening (and I had the most most lethal kind), with two different ER Doctors telling me it was the worst case they've ever seen. Beyond being worried for my life, the next worst thing was that week was supposed to be a vacation for me. So I lost my vacation too.

Regarding Galvatron, if anyone wants to see the other colored 3D printed cannons, or if there's a picture they'd like to see and I can oblige, let me know and I'll do my best to post it. I may reshoot the Time Wars battle photo, I didn't realize the focus was on Rack N Ruin and not Galvatron and Twin Twist for that shot and I realize now I never did a proper side by side with Rodimus Prime. Also, I had never realized just how slim Siege Ultra Magnus is in alt mode, getting beefy Galvatron on him and posed was a pain in the butt and by far the hardest shot to arrange. I think my favorite is the "To Be Continued?" Cover from Target 2006 (Ironhide, Tracks, Smokescreen, Jetfire). Yeah, it's not perfect, but I think it looks great.

Love the look of this guy. I really want to get my hands on this figure. I've got the regular release version of Kingdom Galvatron, which I love, and I've wanted a modern update of the character in this deco since we first saw that Titans Return voyager however many years ago. Only issue is finding somewhere to get him from that isn't gonna cost me €70+. As much as I want this guy, no modern leader class figure is worth that much

I got this guy over the weekend and he's great. I'm not sure why but the toy colors have always looked more dynamic to me, even as I agree that cartoon colors are more iconic. I'm also really glad he looks so good without any of the stickers applied. For those who are putting the stickers on, which ones are you using?

Getting another galvatron seemed pointless. The TR figure scratched that itch fine for me and the new Geewunn model didn't impress me at all, but this redeco interested me. It isn't the same old v galvatron, it's the comic book one. Might as well be a new character.

Having it in hand reminds me a lot of energon Megatron which I really like. The alt mode is still a lame duck but the engineering is just enough to be interesting. I can dig it.

    @Pravus Prime - Awesome pics!!

I got mine over last weekend as well...after preordering the translucent version during "Pulsecon" I almost cancelled this one...three versions of a $50+ toy is a bit much IMO (even for a good mold like this one)but I'm very glad that I didn't.
For whatever reason, the repaint/off color versions of the WFC figures have consistently been dazzling to me. I have a shelf with Worlds Collide Primal and Black Arachnia, T-Wrecks, Shadowpanther, Roadrage, Sandstorm (Ramjet), Grimlock (Beast Dinobot repaint), Skywarp (Airrazor repaint), etc and I frequently find myself reaching for those guys over the main version of the molds. So...I have to add Selects Galvatron to that list and If I could only keep one version of this mold, I thjink this would be it.

Nice materials/finish all around, pleasing color scheme, previously untapped nostalgia, properly assembled shoulders, an honest to God rub sign...it's a win all around!

Quick question- I'm always hesitant to apply stickers on figures like this when aftermarket ones can be used instead but those don't seem to exist yet. I would chance it with the original set if I had a spare sheet...so if anyone wants to sell their sheet or if they know where they can be bought, drop me a PM!

I like how this came out, although I am happy with the standard edition (Damn Hasbro should they ever release a Studio Series repaint in his closer indigo colors). Yet this takes me back to when my brother purchased the new Decepticon "City Commander" only to find out from the comic adaption that he was, in truth, Megatron. Loved the OG toy despite his ginormous scale and I was at first disappointed they changed his colors for the movie. I def can appreciate this from the photos you have all posted here. That dark grey face is so cool, and I like how the grey sort of calls back his original form.

As perfect as Cyclonus came out in execution and how successful Scourge is from his model sheet, I still think Galvatron would be my "Toy of the Year". I have just the standard release, but I marvel at how they managed to get so much of the show's look in both modes, the heft and the transformation into something I thought would come close ever, but not this well done. WFC has several contenders for the TotY, but in terms of anticipation and gratification, I give it to Galvy.

How is the quality of the stickers? Are they better than the paper thin, easily torn and barely adhesive Power of the Primes ones?

They feel about the same as the ones that came with the recent Walmart G1 reissues. None of them tore and they stick well, but they do feel a little flimsy.

My friend is getting into using a new material in his 3D printer, TPU, or a very strong and flexible plastic. So, with the translucent orange, he decided to surprise me with a new cannon. I think it looks great!

Shit. Is he gray? I thought he was white. Which color would match him? I ordered one and wanted to paint parts matching in color and always thought he was bright white from promo shots.

Mine arrived today and I am very happy with it. I love the toy accurate design of the decals but unfortunately they are the same low quality as those from the Prime Wars trilogy so no thanks. I am hoping Toyhax does something similar but with their superior material quality. If you have love for the G1 toy like I do this guy is a no brainer.

I'm afraid I can't help much with what paint color will match him, he is a light gray though.

:p  No, but that is a good one.

Yeah, I figured that a few days ago, but had a different idea. I remembered that at work we had little books by pantone and hks with the color names written to it and I thought, maybe Vallejo has something like that as well. Then I only would have to hold the color chart next to the figure and hopefully it matches. Hope I don't need to mix colors for that light gray. Because the other option would be to paint the whole figure. And never having customized a figure like that, that sounds like a nightmare. (also I could have just gotten a purple Galvatron then :lol )

So let's hope option 1 works out :D
