Love these upgrade parts. Always thought he wasn't really finished off properly

 

I forgot about him after I got Fans Hobby Double Evil, but recently spotted him in the back of one of my shelves and thought it'd be a fun project. He's a really good figure out of the box, but just a little too square and boring for me. A ton of other people have made parts for him before, so I'm not really breaking any new ground or anything.

 

Will you make a release of it in coloured plastic?

 

I could only do a solid one color for each part, so depending on what someone wanted in terms of aesthetic, there would have to be some painting involved.

I forgot to fold his shoulders. But it's nice to see that the red paint on his shoulders reflects the lights well.

 

Question: Does anyone else think that Clobber was originally supposed to be Snapdragon but something happened and they just never produced him?

The dino mode is pretty close to Snapdragon (even using the legs to form the jaw), it has a dragon alt mode, and with Apeface getting a Titans Return mini figure I could see Hasbro originally planning to do Snapdragon only to last minute cancel and just do Grimlock/Clobber.

 

That theory doesn't explain Crashbash and Overboard. None of them explain the bird mode, either. Also, there's no known missing tooling for Snapdragon.

 

...I'm sorry but 'bird mode'? No... that is a dragon. Which, again, fits perfectly with it originally planned for a Snapdragon because none of the figures you mentioned have anything to do with dragons. And even then... what do Crashbash and OVerboard have to do with this theory? It is stating there was plans for a Snapdragon out of this, probably the first one of the figures, only for some reason it got canceled.

As for "There is no known tooling" that is my POINT. Somewhere during the original creation of the line there was plans for a snapdragon but it never got passed R and D. We know there were at least two Titan Masters that canceled: An Optimus Prime inspired one and Toraizer. There are listings in Germany and America yet they were never produced. So plans obviously changed.

 

It’s so simple I don’t see how they didn’t do it. I wish this is what they were originally going to be so we could have mini versions of all the TMs that we got.

 

Darn it, now I might have to do that as my next custom project. I decided yesterday to get a Hardhead and a Highbrow and turn them into Cybertronian Mode Grimlock and Swoop, but Apeface Jr. and custom Snapdragon Jr. might need to be my project after that. Or figure out what bodies to use to give Shuffler, Lione, and Ramhorn as their larger bodies.

 

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Perceptor for the past week, so I finally dug him out.

I just balanced Clobber on top of Ironworks but I thought it looked good. Miss being able to mix heads.
