Kinda funny on reflection how highly sought after these two ended up being as they're very likely going to be milked as much as mmc's drift mold over the coming years.

 

Did the actual version of this Pipes ever come out or did they give up after the smashed version?

So glad mmc was able to give us a good chunk of the idw wreckers, kinda sad they never completed the team.

 

They might one day... remember not taking the 2020/2021 covid years into consideration. In like 2018 and 2019 mmc focus strongly on reformatted and we got about a good number of figures those years it was like almost one a month kind of, including the exclusives from psx and tfcon. Now they will just be slowing down like RVDV said.

I am personally thinking probably 2 new molds and 3-4 retool/repaints a year.

Nice list, but it has been announced the reformatted line is basically over. The last couple of idw figures have not sold well at all and they are focussing on the ox and if lines.

 

I don't think that's necessarily true about the line being dead. I think we might see Reformatted branch out from IDW 1.0 though. Lots of swirling rumors, but nothing confirmed as far as I know. @LazyAza or @RVDA are typically in the know on these things - Fellas?

Yes it confirmed, it's not over.
Instead of coming out with 9-10 figures a year like they did before covid. Now they will be slowing down. So probably 5-6 figures. During covid it was Tfcon exclusives 2 release and 2 normal release in a year. So I see it being similar with 1 or 2 more release then the 4 we got last year and this year due to covid. Nothing crazy like it was before covid. So saying next year we get another optus pexus repaint, mentis retool, and 2 new molds isn't farfetched. Like a Pharma that become starscream and the endless amount of repaint seeker they can become.


Also what funny to me is the last couple of idw figures have sold well this year 3 out of the 4. Mentis sold so well its going to get another run. Optus pexus has sold ridiculously well its had multiple runs already now only coming out in January, I bet optus nox has sold well... only one that may not have would of been exitus. Now last year, during the middle of the pandemic you had chromedome/rewind so I understand that not selling well. People were selling off entire collections to make money to pay bills. I know, I bought a bunch for cheap.

 

Where are you pulling these numbers? RVDA Said the only new molds they are working on are D-Zef and Fort Max, and he even said Fort Max is being heavenly reconsidered because of costs. There has been no Pharma even mentioned by an MMC employee. You need to be careful, because you are very close to presenting hopes as facts. Just be careful with posting your lists about what you want to see being released, make sure to say they are not confirmed before confusion starts to set in.

 

I wouldn't think people were stupid enough to mistake it as an actual real list. As I stated it was only an example to explain what I was saying. And if they did that's their problem honestly. But thanks, I'll tweak my message a bit so those reading can understand I'm just explaining with an example.

There doesn't seem to be any MMC designers working on Reformatted, so I'm not sure where the new molds are going to come from. Granted, I don't know the full staff list, and not everything in the works is mentioned here, on socials, or anywhere publicly, but it seems to me these are the things the designers are working on:
RVDA: Finished 1 IF design, working on 2nd
waffel: Finished 1 IF design, working on 2nd
AK: IF, 3rd PS combiner
Makoto: Maximas Pro, Eris remold(s)
Byrin: U-02
griffith76: Engineering on all upcoming figures (probably including Toy Notch)
Lejamonster: IF
Jesslyn: Independent non-MMC projects, but I don't think she's worked on Reformatted since the Feral Rex face kit

Unless they have a bunch of Reformatted designs sitting, I can't see how there'll be new Reformatted figures soon, outside of Supermax. Every time when asked over the last couple years, MMC has said they have no Skids, Pharma, or Nautica in progress. If they started now, you wouldn't see it for at least 2-3 years, and their recent communications make it seem very unlikely that they'll be starting on new Reformatted projects.

 

I wish everyone would stop talking about Reformatted slowing down / ending. My wounds won't heal if y'all keep ripping the scabs off.

 

Yeah, it sucks to say, but its the truth. Most we've ever gotten are the designers wishlist. I remember that RVDA said that he wished to they would take another crack at Cyclonus and Whirl at some point.

But yeah, I don't see any new reformatted molds for at least a few years and I think I'm fine with that. They've built up a bit of a back catalog with mods and I say they should reap the repaint cash for a bit and carry forth with their other projects, and then come back with a hard-hitting mold or two.

 

Oh they SO are.
