My H28G arrived today. The inner box is somehow upside down and H28G is in unfortunate shape, but it is not broken or damaged.

It is very nicely painted, and probably because of this H28G is more stiff than regular H28, especially at his weist's die-cast parts. Please be more careful when handling H28G. Also, the paints on his lower legs are just like stickers. Really nice.

The last thing I want to mention is that the skull face is made of transparent plastic, which makes his face a little harder to recognize.

P.S. What happened to the shipping or manufacturing? I saw multiple paint chipping cases from this thread, while my two H28 and one H28G do not have this issue. That is so unfortunate...

    Boo!

Is it me, or is that a small paint chip on the left antenna of (normal) Magnus in the third pic?

Sperately, and apologies if this has been asked/answered already, but does anyone know what LUCULLU stands for? Or is it just a reference to the Roman general?

if i had to take a guess, it might be to plug in the cape for Nemesis Prime, as the accessory looks to be the same or similar to the one prev used for their Starscream/seeker coronation accessories.
again a guess but probably spelt wrong and should be Lucullus:

Yeah… After reading some post and seeing pictures I went back to look at my UM head and I have a hairline crack on one antenna and I don’t want to touch it. Looks like it will chip off. So sad.

It could just be the white paint it’s self. White paint is a pain in the butt. It doesn’t cover dark areas easily and you often have to use thicker coats. If you get a badly mixed group with not enough sticking agent it will chip easily. I personally hate painting with white paint.

Are any of the delta magnus’s chipping? If they are fine it’s the white paint.

Unfortunately not just the white paint. I have paint chipping on the silver smoke stacks on my UM.

Maybe yours got exposed to weather that affected the paint or something.

Sorry you’re having issues, but as far as I know this is the only report of paint issues.

For the rest of us I don’t think we need to blow it out of proportion… yet

Could be they didn't clean the figure before painting and painted over dust or they cleaned it with something that made the paint not adhere well. They need to use paints that are specifically formulated to adhere to plastics.
Could be they aren't cleaning the airbrushes right and some of the thinner is mixing in with the paint making it brittle. Or they didn't use the right plastic adhesive primer. We will have to see if this is a common issue, so far mine hasn't had any chipping. If not you may have just gotten unlucky with a new or lazy factory painter who didn't take the right steps.

no wonder the skull face is difficult to see in most of the photos so far. i think i'll apply a light silver or white wash to the back of the face so it casts a better reflection.

Nice photos :)  Dx9 Dutch is still good as well like as theirs Dinobots. So far this is roughly how it went when it comes to size in between Dx9, NA and MST figure

Crikey! This is the one benefit of getting the figure later than everybody else, I guess. Might have to break out the clear nail polish and coat the smokestacks and antennae.

Did the same on MP Hot Rod after early reports of the chrome flaking off and that worked a treat.

So I decided to repaint the antennae myself, and then cover them with satin varnish. Fortunately my old spray paints and varnish were good after not being used for about 3 years, and Citadel Corax White is a fairly good colour match:

    PaintedMagnus.jpg

Obviously it's not as smooth as the original coat - probably my fault for a) using old paint and b) being impatient and not waiting long enough between coats, but I'm still pretty pleased with how it turned out, and it should be better protected against future scratches now. (Also, obviously the "bumpiness" isn't as apparent in hand as it is in a very zoomed in picture)

One interesting thing to note is that I stripped the existing white paint off before doing so, and on both antennae, one side the paint scratched off super easily - I could use the soft part of my thumb, didn't even have to use a nail - but on the other side, it was much more resilient and I had to use a file to take it off. So it looks like they just spray varnished one side of the sprue in the factory, and forgot to do the other side - which likely means this will be a very "your mileage may vary" issue rather than a linewide thing.

Oh good grief, that's even worse than mine! And at least with white paint I can redo it easily enough, with chrome it's a lot more difficult.

On the plus side, I don't have that issue with mine - but on the negative side, that's because mine came with the smokestacks entirely missing :D I've put in a replacement request, doubt I'll get them before Christmas though.

I definitely feel like between this and the Constructicons, Newage are slipping a bit lately. They're still very good, but not as almost-perfect as they used to be. Hopefully this is a momentary blip and they will pick up again.

@magicube - I'm gonna post my pic on Newage's facebook page to make them aware, is it OK if I put yours on as well?

Certainly! I sent a message to Terry but feel free to add my photos to your post. I would be very interested in what Newage has to say.

With your situation, I think you could get a replacement head from NA if you contacted them or your shop.
I also agree that people with paint chipping issues should spread it to NA so they will know about it.
