Thanks. I'm glad I had enough silver pieces between BA HeMan and Mekaneck to get the metallic look for the boots to match the breastplate. I am also glad, in hindsight, that I gave up on trying to get the hair off his head and just dyed the whole thing. The coat of paint is better than the Ronald McDonald look I would've ended up with. He isn't perfect but I am content. About the only real problem I had were the the shoulder and elbow pins. They didn't take the dye and I had to sacrifice a set of Stinkor arms for the shoulder pins. For the elbows, I used a Chinese KO Call of Duty figure's. Whatever they use on the shoulder and elbow pins and those studded bracelets just doesn't want to soak in the dye.
My GF bought me a couple more things for my birthday. One being Squirtle, which was the surprise set. The other being one I knew about and was planning to buy myself at some point.
And the Ghost set is exactly what I mean. Four troop builder figures and a build kit for fourteen bucks. That's a great deal compared to the Heroes line. The local Big Lots got in the DG exclusives. May go hunting tomorrow and see if any of the other stores have them in.
These Mega Contrux figures are absolutely awesome aside from being really well done and highly detailed, they are also highly flexible. That being said you can move them to any action making them perfect for stop motion. That is what sparked the idea for me and my family to make this short MOTU episode from the Mega Contrux figures. Enjoy!
Picked up the pokeball Goldeen release. I think this is like the first new Kanto figure in at least a year or so. I debated on even buying it since I've been considering jettisoning my collection. ...but as far as impulse buys go, $7 isn't bad so now I have Goldeen.
I checked based on this. Same. Except I didn't even get an email or notification. In fact, going through my order history, it shows all items shipped and just deleted the care packages as if they were never pre-ordered. I checked a couple days ago and they still showed arriving in November. How it says January, and "pre-sold out". Super fantastic.
I don't think they this "new" preorder date was ever open. They probably just made a new placeholder expecting Mattel to continue to jank around with the release. That or someone realized they were selling the set of two for cheaper than the case of ten per set finally. That's what happened with the Skeletor Skulls. When they realized they were selling a set of three for cheaper than the case per set, they went into damage control and canceled a lot of orders.
Welp, it's getting down to Halo, Pokemon, and MOTU, and frankly it'll just be Halo before long.. And getting exclusive deals with Amazon to sell shit when hardly anyone carries their product anyways isn't helping anything. Another month gone by, another month of nothing but ~$100 20th Sets. I'm having a hard time understanding how it is that every person and their Mom has created a business out of selling Mega Construx for ridiculous prices EXCEPT MEGA. The product is selling (to resellers), so how is it the stores don't want to carry shit?
What figure did they come with? I have so many spare figures I've lost track of them all. Also, whatcha sculptin in the background? Looks interesting
Since I didn't want to waste the red solution, I colored a few more pieces to go along with my Anti-Eternia HeMan. Knowing little [and caring less] about the character's actual origin, I opted to make mine the final form of an Adam who was taken by Hordak instead of Adora. As such, Force Captain Adam lived a life under Hordak's guidance to become a model soldier of the Horde. After conquering Etheria, Hordak sent Adam on to Eternia where Adam came across the sword of power. Unlike his sister of another timeline, however, Adam was unable to escape the influence of Hordak and eventually corrupted the sword with help from Shadow Weaver. The power of the universe at his command, HeMan would not only take Eternia but build an army to overpower the Horde upon his return to Etheria.
What's sad is that there's clearly a market for these kinds of sets, as the Polish company, Cobi, keeps expanding their range of military themed sets.
I think the biggest problem is the CoD license. It's targeted at CoD fans, who simply aren't interested in toys. Meanwhile Cobi has marketed their military sets as historical brick model kits. Whereas Mega is like "Make a recognizable but not actually the WWII vehicle and sell it as CoD," Cobi is actually arriving to get as accurate as possible vehicle within reason for bricks. For a history buff like me Cobi is more attractive because they're trying to actually recreate the vehicle as accurate as possible. Meanwhile the Mega Sherman looks like one if I squint but once you get into the weeds it's some fantasy tank with a somewhat passable Sherman costume on. Cobi knows who they're aiming at. People like me who love the idea of accurate brick models of these vehicles. Meanwhile Mega is marketing to fans of a game who don't actually care for accuracy, but also don't care about toys. If Mega CoD is getting the axe or getting shafted I'm not surprised. I'm honestly still shocked that they even have product given their last retail set was years ago and was from CoD Infinite. Hell they didn't even do a Jackal from Infinite which was a big shame.
All the more reason to drop the CoD line and just make decent generic military toys with the highly articulated figures. To that, the care package sets in question are showing up at Dollar General stores... and at the inflated $12.00 a set. So, you know, six bucks more than expected retail.
It was from this guy, I had got them on clearance. I am making a Classified version of the Night Adder, I still need to find a dog
