Honestly I think it's because Hasbro did a pretty good job on MPM Prime. Are there issues with it? Absolutely, but that's why we're seeing improved versions using the MPM as a base, because it was a good design. I think companies like UT see any value in doing a scratch build of a figure that is already pretty good and has already been improved on.

Another reason could be by releasing characters that Hasbro hasn't done in MPM scale, they are less likely to run afoul of legal issues.

 

Yeah it's good, but I've owned all five UT movieverse releases and this was the only one that I consider to be very successful, and it was their second try to boot. They just have certain strengths and weaknesses. Also that TMT headsculpt hasn't been shown unmasked yet. Getting the weird face correct is the hardest part. Knight Optimus had a much more streamlined and simplified face design in comparison. If UT just stole molded details then they wouldn't be criticized for it so often. I don't think that's how they roll.

 

Just a way to sell it at a way higher price point Again, like they did with Galvatron. Except this time since no one will believe the “we are leaving” thing again, got to try something else.

 

I can see on weibo, people complaining that there is a lot of metal in this Megatron, but UT said that there is not much metal. In the beginning, the metal placed on the toys was just to beautify it or to make it look more rigid. Nowadays die cast is used to strengthen fragile parts that could easily break. As much as I didn't like the cabin turning the feet, this Megatron UT got a really good design!

I suppose that does subject quite the valid point there, they may be engineering brainstormers, but i don't think that their prior skills would be able to streamline something like OT Peterbuilt Prime (even though i was one in that category to request them in doing so-)

checking most of their figures, i find that they work better with the bulk of some designs rather than the slim nature of some, Nero and Dragoon reflect it very well since they are bigger and bulkier designs, in which gives them liberty to at least pack the engineering for that matter, IF TMT can contend and release just a figure or two of Prime just basing off from their promo proto pics, then that would be our go-to for a better prime that will inevitably replace BA prime to boot (though it's odd on why they showed the DOTM chest with the EVASION rendition of prime, even when that was not prominent nor present in the movie)

 

I think they included that cause the robot mode for Evasion Prime is the same as TF1-3 Prime so they're probably gonna release 2 version, 1 rusty and 1 in the colors of regular movie optimus with the flames cause some will buy it for the OT Prime robot mode (I think I might if that design happens and is good and scales well just cause it's a good looking and articulated OT Prime even if it doesn't transform into a long nose).

 

Is it time to buy a couple mircoscopes of Dr.wu for Megatron's treatment?   

 

Hopefully that they do the Peterbuilt form of Prime, all we would desire is a more slimmer prime without the roots of the MPM

Although i'm now eager to see some pictures showing the back of Prime just to see how compact it is compared to ALL other primes out there

 

Yes, There were people complaining about the head.

 

They do that because there was too much complain about the weathered version of R02 challenger,some people complained that they rather painted him themselves than paid for such a piece of crap.So UT gave them what they want this time......

 

Megatron's such a cheese head he must be from Wisconsin!



Really though if it looks that bad in person I'll just use my dremel to create my OWN battle damage on the head. Then paint over it. I did it with my custom Nemesis Prime.

 

It’s not hard since battle damage is pretty vague and if you paint over it and give it a nice ink wash it’ll look good regardless.

 

or probably fill the holes with putty just enough to make it less trypophobic in appearance, leaving minor circles to convey the eroded metal look a bit better compared to sponge holes

 

I just talked to their support-lady,and she said desperado might be difficult to come out at the end of this year.
So be patient,my friends.   

 

I’d be shocked if it came out before the end of the year. It doesn’t at least from the photos we’ve seen look like it’s close to being finished. Since we don’t have a painted copy/prototype.

 

He's definitely coming after CNY.

Unfortunately I have 0 confidence in damaging my figure, so I would prefer them to fix the sculpt. Harder to fix sculpt than it is to fix paint.

 

Mid next year would be perfect. Anything released just right after CNY tends to be dodgy quality wise.
