Not exactly, a little more than that but your kind not off

The main differences are Autobot logo, blaster rifle is greyish now, some seige battle damage (which look better than SEIGE tbh), both under crotch piece & the hands are blue, thighs and waist is now silver so are the hip panels, pieces on the side of his waist is red, arrows on arms are yellow, side detail on his arms are silver,

The back area has some silver now,

And the sides of the truck are white now and not silver and the windshields are black.

 

This is the first PF figure I\'ve actually felt like buying. The new deco looks fantastic!

I tried to replicate the promo image of PF BBM Optimus when I first saw it.


Still, I do want Autobot symbols on BBM Optimus’ shoulders though.

New deco looks terrific! Premium Finish voyagers are about $7 more expensive than Studio Series and WFC voyagers in Japan, so the markup isn't that bad.
If I wanted a BB Prime in my collection, this would definitely be the one I'd go with.

 

Does anyone know if the mold has started to show signs of degradation yet? I know it hasn't been re-released too many times now, but I'd like to have a general idea about possible quality control issues before sinking cash into this figure.

Prime looks very chunky his bottom half is very skinny doesn’t look right

 

Can't expect perfection from a Voyager.

 

That and the original BBM Prime and all it's repaints are based on the concept art and not the final CGI Model.

 

Yeah, this one actually looks like a proper Takara deco.

 

So a "premium" finish means less-screen-accurate? (I mean, it's the wrong model of truck to start with, but they could at least have painted it right...)

 

How on earth is this a "premium finish" if the red isn't even painted? What justifies charging such an inflated price?

The mold itself is okay but certainly not an accurate or definitive version of the character. Neither is the MPM or any other (transforming) figure we've gotten so far... so I guess I'll keep waiting!

I doubt we'll be getting a new BBM Prime anytime soon (either Cybertronian or Earth mode). Probably only get a new-ish version of that final design with ROTB with a bit more silver and the grill guard in truck mode.

 

TBH, I actually much prefer that the red parts on the Premium Finish BB movie Optimus Prime be represented with actual red parts rather than paint. At the end of the day, it's still a toy/figure that was meant to be played, transformed, and posed around with. If the figure was painted all over from head or toe, you get something no better than those gold chrome-plated Gundam kits which require delicate handling, or you'll risk damaging the gold coating.
