And I did it! Solved the problem without 3D printing. Had to disassemble the leg and the knee part. There are two internal spring-loaded tabs on that knee part. The problem is that they are to short and that spring is too weak. So you need to extend the spring and shave off some areas around tabs to lengthen them a little bit. Now it's perfect! Starscream's able to wear the coronation set.
I will make the same "surgery" to the left leg (which is almost fine) and maybe make some photos to show, what to do.

 

Does anyone have an extra left hand for thundercracker? Any color will be ok..i can paint it black.

Late to this party but any chance there are any YesModel/BB7 coneheads out there? I'm not finding any on Taobao. I've settled on them since the Takara ones are too expensive.

 

Some of those prices are hilarious, when I sold my YM Starscream I tried to get £80 for it , eventually the best I got was closer to £60. If any of those listings sell for that much I'd be impressed.

 

Except noone buys at those prices, that's what I was saying I had to drop price of mine just to get a sale

Is there any guide or comparison pictures out there to help identify Takara seekers vs. the various KOs? I'm wondering about Thundercracker in particular.

I recently bought a TC off eBay. Reputable seller, beat up box but supposed to be unopened, and the seller claimed it was known to be an official Takara release when I asked. Unfortunately, my mail carrier crushed the box (recurring issue), so I can't tell how much of the oddities I'm seeing might be due to that. However, I suspect that it might be a repackaged used item, and that makes me suspicious of everything else.

To be clear, I'm familiar with the mold and its QC issues. I'm more suspicious of things like his shoulders being mistransformed out of the box, paint issues that look more like wear than QC defects, the card being missing from the instruction bag, etc. Nothing I can see that definitively says it's been opened, but enough to make me suspicious.

More than anything though, the cockpit just seems to be too light of a yellow tinge to me. Not as yellow as Hasbro TC, but it doesn't seem orange enough for Takara's. I don't have access to my other seekers right now to compare though, so it's again nothing definite.

Anyway, I just want to figure out what it is I have here. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Can the front-facing hip-skirts move? If so, that's KBB, be cautious, as a lot of the KBB Seekers had crap plastic for the groins which easily crumbled!

 

KBB seekers have poor plastic everywhere.

 

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked up a video review to double check exactly what to look for. It's the standard Takara hip skirt, not the KBB one.

I should have added that he does have tampoed Decepticon symbols, so that also rules out any of the ones with stickers
