I am interested in this set but this is my biggest concern. I've heard that the ankles suck and that the knee bend is restricted. Is this true? I don't want something to just sit there and look cool on a shelf, I want something I can actually pose and play around with, even if it means I have to glue a couple pieces on or something.

 

For me, the set's ankle doesn't suck but the mpm4 (mine is lt02) ankle sucked, its just. Tubular plastic.

Knee bend somehow is restricted due to the piece that attached behind the knees.


Also the worse thing on the set is that some poeces fall often (most likely on lt02) maybe because of descrepancy in paint (those panels attached on his inner leg often falls, i just use a tape to enlarge the peg to tighten the hole

What i did (might break the foot) is to reinforce the ankle (pivot) with larger and longer screw then have a washer to sit it still, now my optimus syanding almost nearly 2 years in a shelf but its ankle is still playable and stiffer (also sturdier to stand)

 

YMMV, but my LT-02 has loose hips so since this kit makes him extremely back heavy, he's a poseable statue. The waist and thigh pieces don't really tab/sit securely. I knock them off whenever I move him. The knees are actually fine on mine and can stand straight or chicken legged, but the backpack requires them to be posed often in an outwardly bowed stance to balance the whole figure.

I love this kit, but its a pose and display because of my figure's lower joints.

 

Thanks for the responses guys. I don't think this set is for me then if pieces keep popping off and joints have to be reinforced. Although, I suppose one could just leave off a couple of the more aggravating leg pieces?

 

I wonder if this would fit the black apple MPM04 OS at all... that thing is solid as a rock though definitely larger so I'm guessing it won't fit (or probably not look as great)

 

Nope. Specifically attaches to MPM-04 OR LT-02.

BA Prime is way too big, they had plans to make a bigger kit for him, but those updates have stalled.

That one looks odd to me. The jet engines look way too big and the shoulder pads look too small.

True, the proportions are a bit weird but not hatefully so, I can get behind this set (though I personally like the DOTM jetpack more in general :-D). Also the feet/leg extensions look a bit short but might be a practical reason with the weight it needs to support.

 

I don't think he got THAT much taller in the actual film. Most of the jetfire bulk is in the turbines, IIRC. The iron warrior set adds way too much height to MPM4, but this one has turbines that are too big. I think the SS figure with the DNA kit actually has the most accurate proportions.

hmmm.... I need to go back and check, I think it added enough height for him to be on par with Meg or even the fallen, but given the non stop jumping around it's hard to see. If so then I stand corrected

NO ITS PERFECT! Best kit ever but overpriced for a kit, 20-40 dollars would be ideal

If you still hate the hand hinging method for the swords, I suggest the Mr bucket MR-01 upgrade, personally would like the handheld swords than the wrist deployed ones

I've heard a lot of feedback on both and people seem much happier with the DNA kit. You can actually play with that one, and it takes about half as long to install.

 

Its false in my opinion, the iron warrior takes an estimated 15 minutes for me I guess,
