Nah, we had enough of them.

Happily moving on to new creators rather than regurgitating the 2010s.

Who is that on the cover, even? With the weird flowers? Broadside maybe? No idea...

Well, from the previews I read so far that is not apparent. And if true, that is a terrible idea. That's like if Bruce Wayne fought crime without a disguise, as a billionaire well known celebrity. Unless they do their missions in pretender shells or kill anyone who sees them, this won't end well.

Since there was no internet in the 80ies, kinda hard to gauge whether they were successful or not, given that people only say their opinion NOW decades later, and most people give in to peer pressure. I mean financially they must have done well, or Hasbro would not have dropped Powermasters who only existed for a year, as well as Triggerbots/cons, Firecons, etc, and instead did a toyline in 1989 mostly consisting of Pretenders and Micromasters.
Hasbro makes awesome Power Rangers monsters and humans in Lightning Collection that are super articulated and poseable. Would be a no-brainer to somewhat upscale them, build a hatch in the back of the upper body, and make a Core/Legends sized robot you can fit inside.

Glad to see Razorbeast recovered from the previous issue. Was worried they'd write him off for a bit.

I'm guessing that's Packrat (or Labrat??) with Wheeljack and Botanica in the flashback because he has the same exact head design as Rattrap.

Although, if Wheeljack is there, maybe it could be Rattrap's Autobot ancestor? And that Botanica-looking bot is her ancestor and not Botanica herself? I haven't read this series past the 1st issue so I don't know how closely tied to G1 this Beast Wars is compared to the show and IDW's first BW run.

I really wonder why they chose to use someone identical to Rattrap for that flashback, because to an uninitiated/new reader, it looks like Rattrap's being informed on a situation he himself was a part of. I know to most TF fans we understand that there's other guys who look like him out there, but it seems like a poor choice for a cameo.

Because previews don't give away the entire story.

Hasbro's own sales data showed that each subsequent gimmick saw waning sales and less and less of a return each year. I mean I like Pretenders, and Micromasters, and even most Action Masters, but they were none of those had the popularity of the early years of '84-'86.

Like I said, it's been discussed, and yes, they could that. But that would also be taking an upscaled version of an already $22.99 figure at retail, pushing it's price point up by making it larger, and then carving a cavity in it to stuff a $10 Transformer, which means then having to either compromise most of the toy to fit it into a Voyager class budget or go all out by releasing them at a Leader class price where they'll likely never sell (let alone the fact that Hasbro would only be able to release a hand full of them at a higher price point).

Getting some more info with Cyclonus's crew and Exarchon. Things are only going to get more spicy in these issues.
