Gotta wonder if there's a repainted version to go with the 5 bot God Neptune giftset in the works. Surely its an easy win for Dream Wave - no retooling required, just repainted colours....

 

I never pre-ordered, to begin with. After getting their Abominus set in hand, and not using it except for a few accessories here and there, and finding the quality to be really subpar I just can't recommend their stuff. Now, knowing you have to disassemble any bot you use as an arm at their waist mushroom peg (which seems like a recipe for disaster on a rare figure that's nigh unobtainable to replace), I just refuse to risk it. It's why I didn't go with the FOC upgrade kit that came with that Voyager Class Onslaught. Mushroom pegs can be dealt with, sure, but they're not meant to have you push and pull on 'em in that manner all the time. It's meant to be semi-permanent.

This is just a dumb set. Had they left it at the chest plate, thighs, and hands/feet, that would be one thing but they always have to push with these sets.

 

That reminds me I still need to tighten a few of the joints on my Abominus set. The only pieces from that set that I don't use are the dragon heads as they just don't tab in securely enough on my copy. Once I stopped using them, the thigh pieces stay on much better.

That reminds me, did anyone ever make better hip ratchets for Abominus?

As for this set, I'm still all in.

 

Alright got mine today and boy I don't like it, which is kinda a shame because I prefer this upgraded look over the tfc one and I skipped the re-release for this. But damn, the issues I have with this package just kills the last bit of hope.

As you can see I'm combining it the way the anime did. The new sword looks cool but too bad they didn't paint it lavender chrome.

If you are wondering why there are huge gaps in the thigh, it's because it's supposed to be screwed together by some tiny screws which I just cannot keep it tight, and one flew off and nowhere to be found.

Aesthetic wise it's boxy the way I like it, but it didn't fix the balance at all, in fact I felt it is even more unstable due to the feet not being a solid piece. Supposedly it opens and becomes a shield for individual members but it was hold together by a horizontal pegs into the pink toes, and having the cannon jam awkwardly in-between, it falls apart when force is applied. Beside it's super tight in one side(tentakil) while loosen the peg of my other leg(Skalor).

I spend a few minutes trying to find the right spot to peg the sword, it turns out you have to poke through that small hole on the thumb which flips all over.

All said and done, this guy is still floppy due to its weak crotch which the kit didn't fix, looking from behind, it felt like a cover-up, a bandage to broken glass. And it cannot hold it's weapons because of its shoulder. YES there are arm supports but they were only for elbows which didn't help much.
In summary a huge step down from Volcanious and Abominous, but to be fair it was mostly the problems of the base toy, I wanted to like it but it just didn't click with me, maybe my I should try different limbs, please let me know if there's a better arrangement.

 

So they didn't learn their lesson with the Abominus feet? Where I don't intend on ever using the shield feature, I might just glue it together so the foot can't fall apart.

 

Is there less parts then in the original testshot. It looks like there was supposed to be some parts that connect to Piranicon's waist I don't see

 

it was the same issue with the volcanicus feet as well

 

Shame because i generally enjoyed the set for UW computron. Not perfect, but was decent

 

I like the thigh beefer-uppers, but how do the elbow pieces work/attach?

 

Ditto for me with the Defensor set.

Have to be honest: I like Piranacon’s stock feet the way they are; that was one extremely rare time where I’m not sure a foot upgrade was needed.
The torso and thigh upgrades at least look great; almost enough to tempt me to get this kit (notwithstanding the shortcomings in the rest of it).
Don’t know if I’d be happy forking out for a kit that I’d likely only use half the parts, though.

That has to be the quickest I've seen a 3P product go from first painted test shot to being in a customer's hands. I wonder why the quiet release. Have these been out in China for awhile and I just missed something? Kinda shocked there wasn't more paint used.
