In most continuities, yes, Megatron is Galvatron. So much so that the entire idea almost became a parody of itself during the 2000's.

First, in the movie Galvatron's one free action was getting to kill Starscream. Unicron didn't even hesitate to let Megatron be incinerated if he refused the devil deal. Galvatron was punished for failing to finish Magnus the first time, then for trying to threaten Unicron with the Matrix, and for trying to ally with Hot Rod towards the end. Unicron was trying to break Megatron/Galvatron's spirit, so he wouldn't rebel. Remember the whole thing with Scourge saying they belong to Unicron, and Megs/Galv's response? And Galvatron was shown to still be terrified of Uncron in season 3.

As for the personal opinion thing, THAT was in a separate paragraph from my interpretation of the cartoon. I went on a personal tangent, but it should have been clear that I was trying to make a break between the two discussions. I never intended to try and retcon the events of the cartoon continuity for everybody, it was just my PERSONAL continuity. I'm sorry I failed to make that clear.

That’s debatable, it’s not like Unicron used him like a lifeless puppet……He face Galvatron his orders but didn’t control how he accomplished finishing the

That’s not exactly true, Megatron could have said no snd died With dignity

    nope
That was the 2nd time Galvatron was punished

you need to re-watch the film

nope, Unicron never punished him there, At least not like he did on the other occasions

He threatened to destroy Cybertron and then swallowed Galvatron…..No torture punishment there
Congratulations on that one, I stand corrected there is a third example of Torture/punishment……But even three times hardly translates into “constantly”

For the record there’s three examples of torture/punishment in this order

1)When Galvatron voiced objections to Unicrons destruction of Cybertron moons

2)When Ultra Magnus excaped to the planet of junk

3)When Galvatron suggested working with Hotrod
break his Spirit , more like break his ass

I see no evidence that Unicron was Was concerned with anything other than his own needs, and he had no need to break anyones Spirit….. he would just enforce his will over others
    Terrified?

That seems like a bit of an exaggeration, about the most I can recall was him telling his troops to be careful because Unicron might still be dangerous when they entered his head

That really doesn’t scream of being terrified

No, that was in your first Paragraph, in fact it was in the very first two sentences of it

(the Part about Megatron slowly dying is totally personal interpretation)

Within the first two sentences you went from talking about going strictly by the cartoons continuity and then went straight to editorializing and giving your interpretation of what you feel happened

And there’s no reason for you to apologize, in fact maybe I should offer an apology because I didn’t intend to offend or insult you so perhaps I missed worded my reply to you

I just found an extremely confusing about how you were talking about following the official continuity in one sentence and going right into personal interpretation by the next sentence in the same paragraph.

Galvatron is Megs. Heck, in the JP verse, he got restored as Superduper Megatron.

I've always thought of Galvatron as a separate new character who happens to have access to all of Megatron's memories. But his personality is as different from Megatron's as Cyclonus and Scourge's are to the Decepticons they got reformatted from, and Galvatron speaks of Megatron as a separate character right from his first appearance.

The Japanese continuity is its own thing. They took a hundred things in a different direction from the US originals, ignoring or subverting the original mythology to create a franchise more in tune with a Japanese audience. That's not a value judgment on the Japanese continuity, but it's a different thing.

Having access to someone’s memories is one thing, but such a person wouldn’t have the feeling that one would Associate with those memories

If Galvatron was Entirely new person there would’ve been no need for such the other destruction of Starscream

If Galvatron was an entirely new person he wouldn’t have felt Personally attacked when Unicron attacked the moons

There was only one line in the film that gives rise to the idea he’s a different person, and even that line is a big vague as it could be easily taken as speaking of himself as in 3rd party

There are far more examples of the film telling us he’s supposed to be the same person

if you agree that using examples from the Japanese series is questionable evrn at its best

I can see bits of Megatron in Galvatron. He clearly remembers what Starscream did to him when he first arrived... "here's a hint."

I can also see flashes of Thundercracker's personality in Scourge, too. You could see Thundercracker's traitorous side in "Fire on the Mountain", and further as Scourge when he takes the Matrix and when he partners with Starscream.

And I'll probably get attacked for sayimg this, but I can see Bombshell's personality in Cyclonus. Bombshell was always the more level-headed and diplomatic of the Insecticons. He and Megatron agreed to a cease-fire between Insecticons and Deceptions in that one G1 episode. He didn't lead the Insecticons, but you could tell he was the brains of the team. He was also fiercely loyal to his Insecticon brothers. But now that they're all Sweeps, he and the Sweeps are loyal to Galvatron. I often wonder what Bombshell's real face looked like under that knight-mask... perhaps like Cyclonus?

Edit: And I also thought it was interesting that CW Cyclonus, according to his bio and artwork, had a special ability to mind control other TFs into combining with him into Galvatronus. This is reminiscent of Bombshell's mind control ability.

    my opinion

In “fire on the mountain” Thundercracker was trying to set Starscream up for blame and maybe get a leg up himself within the decepticons

In “The burden hardest the bear“ Scourge tried to use the power of the matrix to rule the decepticons himself

not really the same level of behavior , And I wouldn’t say what thundercracker did Rose to the level of treachery against the cause but more like Trying to take an opportunity against a direct superior

But again that’s just my two cents

Galvatron is basically Unicron taking Megatron and making him more efficient and powerful (for the movie, at least) I see part of that being him removing whatever personality components/weaknesses he may have had that made him fail in the past. He's been turned up to 11, basically. As for his new minions? I've decided to just say that Cyclonus is a combination of parts from Bombshell and Skywarp, as is Thundercracker, Shrapnel and Kickback when it comes to the sweeps. That way, there is no more debate. When someone asks if Cyclonus was Skywarp or Bombshell, my answer is "Yes."

I think Megatron's psyche was strong enough to bleed through at moments after his transformation. Which is why he would sometimes refer to Megatron as if he was a different person and then speak as if he was Megatron. Such as when he's choking Hot Rod, he talks about killing Optimus.

Maybe I shouldn't say "traitorous" but "opportunistic".

Yeah I think that’s a little bit better but I would also like to point out he didn’t seem to be overly opportunistic

If this helps clear up my thinking I feel that he wouldn’t have done the same thing if it was against Skywarp or Soundwave that may have gotten blamed

However Scourge was certainly traitorous when he took the matrix for himself

"...a new body and new troops to command"

It's right there, clear as crystal. Megatron simply received a new body. Whereas Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps are entirely new troops created by Unicron. I don't understand why such a simple straightforward thing always ends up being a subject of debate from both ends.

That’s everything though. Take any tiny facet of Transformers, and there will be people ready and willing to talk it into the ground.

Makes sense. Cyclonus is bigger than either... not that mass means much in the original cartoon. Also you don't see much of Cyclonus duplicate* outside a couple of scenes in the movie, so I like interpreting that reformatting scene as both Bombshell and Skywarp were used to make Cyclonus. I appreciate that wasn't the intention at the time.

In my reinterpretation the 'armada' would be Scourge and his Sweeps since they are subordinate to Cyclonus. Again, I know that wasn't the original interpretation, just my retcon explaining the absence of Cyclonus 2 later.

Back to thread- Galvatron is Megatron. More or less.

*One dude does not an 'armada' make. Even if he is a big boy . :p

Galvatron can not be Megatron alone... it's impossible. Other Cybertronians had to be sacrificed in his reformat. There is no other explanation to how thiccc those thighs are...
