What's a better bang for your buck if you have neither, this or Planet X's FOC Grimlock?

Few questions
I’m so torn on Grimmy. He is big and beautiful but I was lucky to get some qc challenges.
I was missing two screws. (Anyone know the size to purchase?) my left knee is so wobbly it feels like it’s going to fall off. Anyone have any advice to pop out the red disch without marring the paint?

And my biggest challenge
After putting him back to Dino mode I noticed the piece where the chest tabbed in gave the chest 2 hairline cracks and marred the hell outta the plastic.

Just contact your seller and get a replacement. No reason for you to be stuck with a bad copy.

 

It's hard to find a baseline when there are so many writers that kinda do their own things.

Like Shockwave written by Furman is an absolute beast but he's much more reasonable under the other writers.

The simple truth is that plot will always override sense

No offense meant, But I'm hoping you just got a dud, and these aren't wide spread issues. I would send it back to where you got it from for a replacement.

Same with TFSource it seems (if I didn’t preorder with them when before the price bumb I would have ordered him with someone else).

 

That's exactly what I mean. It's all tell not show. We have these moments in the comics that hype up who Grimlock is and for some reason he is vastly underpowered in action. LSOTW has that cut moment, there was something about bots using his presence to legitimize a Megatron rally in a comic, he was noted to have fought the DJD multiple times and apparently was who damaged Tarn's face (who is said to be as powerful as a phase-sixer.) Most of the fights we see Grimlock in he usually has some type of handicap. Whether it be the radiation or not being fully there mentally but it'd be nice to see him... ya know... seem like an actual threat.

There's also this weird inconsistency to ME with the Decepticon and Autobot power levels. The Decepticons have: 3 guys that are supposed to be one-bot armies, the DJD who easily took out a phase-sixer in their opening, and Megatron who regularly beat Overlord.

 

My headcanon is that the DJD have some sort of untrunium-destroying capability, or maybe Tesaurus's blades are also made of it, but that they aren't really meant for combat otherwise. Now that I say it out loud, I'm not sure how it works either.

 

Tesarus's blades are coated with untrunium according to his creator.

 

I got mine a few days ago and the first thing I did (after putting back a screw that had fallen out) was to transform the dino tail outside the legs. The second thing was to remove and paint the gold on the "wings" with a silver marker pen.

The size was just what I intended for my Grimlock (who I stopped working on when Cacus was reviled)

 

I think it’s a widespread comic in the comic medium, at least the SciFi/superhero genre. Every writer has their own ideas about power levels, about plots and the requirements of the plot, editorial influence (“we wanna hype up this character for the franchise, so juice the power levels”) etc.

I agree, it would have been nice to see him depicted the way he is rumored. The only time we saw him fight without a handicap, Shockwave handled him pretty easily (IIRC, he implied that he held back Sam’s prolonged the fight to give Soundwave time to do his thing). The only other time Grimlock has a chance to show his mettle without handicap, when he sent off the scavengers to escape Scorponok’s ship, while he held off the bad guys and protected the infant), the encounter happened off-screen. Disappointing that someone who was pretty visible throughout the IDW1 run never got much chance to shine.

 

December? That seems optimistic, given that TCP hasn't gotten theirs in and they're way faster than BBTS. I'll be surprised if BBTS gets Cacus before February.

 

Yeah, Roberts introducing the Phase Sixers was a huge power-scaling mistake. Canonically Black Shadow wrecked OP, Ultra Magnus and an Autobot army solo and Megatron had a bunch of other P6ers. Logically it made no sense why the Autobots didn't instantly lose.

When we first see Sixshot. It's clear that he's incredibly strong but not so much that he could easily mop the floor with OP, Ultra Magnus and an Autobot army.

 

That Earth mode Arcee looks great! Can it transform? I always wanted someone to make a figure of that design.

Got mine in, unfortunately one of the little rear claw bits was broken off and the LED lights don't seem to work for me.
