Well, turns out things are gonna be.... Interesting on this front for an interesting reason. So BD/SP's def down from Platnium because, y'know, its actually missing some content at the moment which was available in Platnium that a fair few people will be very upset at and would be a. Bit of a spoiler.

But, there's something Very Interesting about its development. Because uh, turns out, BD and SP? They're developed in Unity.

Y'know. Unity. The very well known video game engine. Not an in-house engine. An engine that's absolutely trivial to port things to other systems. An engine super easy to edit.

Once this game comes out, people are going to be able to whip up unauthorised ports of this to anything. If you have a hacked Switch, I reckon in a couple of months tops you should be able to get every pokemon up until Sun/Moon (Sw/Sh's model format is resisting efforts to crack it thus far, but this may help). This is going to be absolutely ridiculously easy to mod. Datamining's going to be FUN for the next few weeks.

 

Unity?! That IS surprising! No doubt there's going to be interesting mods popping up in the future.

I hope that in the data mining we find out there's shiny overworld Pokemon in the underground areas. That's one thing that I hoped became a staple after Let's go but didn't happen in SwSh.

BTW:

Legends Arceus update, if you have a Sword and Shield save file you will be able to get Shaymin and a Shaymin Kimono set for the game.

 

The slates needed to encounter the legendaries are styled after the old game carts, that's so cool.

Diamond gets the Legendary Beasts which you can get in Sword/Shield.
Pearl gets the Legendary Birds which Sword/Shield has but the Galarian versions.

I was told that PLA is going to have trades. I was thinking: will there be exclusives depending on which starter you pick? Will Pokémon Home make use of PLA? If so in what way?

This is the first time I’m hearing of that. I assume there will be trade evolutions in the game.

 

The only thing we know of is that there is a Trading Post in Jubilife Village.

It might be the game's own personal gts. Might just be a simple link trade scenario.

But it is probably there for trade evolutions, although it has been shown we can catch/encounter trade evolutions in this game too.

 

I’m strangely okay with the next gens not having everything in it, however if they are going to be having limited seating in the games going forward they need to do away with these cutesy dex filler things and only exist to take up another page if they will have no use otherwise.

 

I’m more concerned if later games are garbage or not.

Yeah, in fact a lot of previous Pokémon games got vindicated because of SWSH (both main titles and spin-offs).

 

Gen 5 which was once regarded as the worst generation during its release has definitely gotten the respect it deserves.

People like cute things.

Every Pokemon is someone's favourite and happy to have them be in the game.
