They're both pretty darn fantastic. 3 to go.

 

These will, no doubt, be the perfect Dinobots for me.

 

I just wish we had gotten their swords instead of Wheelie and Daniel. Both of them ended up in an unused accessory box for me.

 

I didn't even remove them from the box.

 

SS86 was a late decision. When they decided to do beasts in the third year of WFC, they moved some of those toys into Studio Series. When that line was a hit, they decided to extend it, but the two lines essentially go together, and they are using SS to get more G1 toys out faster (to the ire of Bayfans, but that's another issue). Push comes to shove they can use "blink and you missed it" characters from the 86 film (Hound, Windcharger), and when they run out of those, they can just redefine SS again to include anything that was on a screen, ever, if they want to find a spot for, say, Gears.

Finally picked up Slag tonight at Wally World. Cancelled the BBTS pre-order.

Should be getting Slag on monday. Grimlock is great.

Slag was the only one I didn't have way back when. Now he's the only one I have while I wait for Grilock to arrive.

 

Sludge was the only one I DID have! I eventually got legless Swoop. Never had a complete set of 5 in any form except for the WST set a few years back.

 

Yeah if I ever paid attention to who I was responding to, I would have known that. 

I confess to not being blown away by these, but part of this is nostalgic fascination with the original toy color schemes. The silver and gold chrome just jumped out at you on the shelves and really let toys stand out on the shelves. These toys feel kind of cheap to me, especially with the obvious cut corners (the most glaring to me being the horrible hollow horns on Slag - God bless Nonnef!). Weirdly I think that it is the fact that these figures are soclose to being perfect but not quite there that makes them more frustrating to me than figures such as Classics Grimlock or even the POTP Dinobots, which took design cues but were also clearly their own things.

 

I think they are incredible! Grimlock was a hard purchase Bc I already had a set of Dinobots and didn’t wanna go thru this all again but man he was worth it! slag is nice! but I may just go with grimlock and keep it at that.

 

Probably the reason for this is because if they are perfect then no one would be getting their masterpiece line (if they ever decide to make a set of mastrpiece Dinobots one day). Not saying the masterpiece line is perfect of course.

 

My Dinobots are now a zillion times better with the Nonnef upgrade kits. I'm a charter member of the Dinotbots = Swords Society. Now let's see Mr Brontoburgers himself!

 

So when are g1 Toy decos coming?
