Wow ? Didn’t know so many of you take this guy’s opinion for gospel ?! I just like the way this figure looks . It’s very slavish to the toon . Has the over all physic that the toon look had & I much prefer it over my MP-13. Could really careless how BSF feels. I definitely don’t follow his transformation process much less take his opinion into consideration lol.

How do we know they’re an “after thought”?

Maybe FT / RP always intended to make a toon version that could utilise “toy” accessories. I doubt they finished the figure and then suddenly decided to include an alternate look.

Isn’t it a good thing that they’ve tried to cater for both sets of collectors?

    *shrug*

Yes exactly that's really weird, complaining with lack of details when those details were readily available on the swappable parts, really ad odd, odd comparison. Sure he said he gave the point for gimmick for that, but then again when comparing the look, he was NOT using that gimmick, so....I dunno...In fact when i get mine i am going to use most (not all, especially not the head) toy parts cause I also find the stock versione a little too plain.

Sorry, maybe I should have been more explicit with my flippant comment lol. They FEEL like an afterthought or badly thought though, because the end result in neither toy nor toon. I'm sure they were not ACTUALLY an afterthought. IMO it's a clumsy mash up, especially the toy option. It's certainly admirable that they tried to cater to both sets of collectors but for me it's not totally successful at either and maybe they should have focused on one or the other... but that's just me!

Anyway I reckon I've said my piece on this one... It's a great figure just not my particular cup of tea, enjoy!

I’d really like to see the fanstoys version of this mold

Truth be told I’ve not been super pumped by what I’ve seen in the promo pictures. So I’m not shocked at the reception of this.

I hope most of use make our decision based on more than just 1 review.
Reason people like Bobby and other reviewers like Perspective End is that they will call out shit which some reviewers never do (we all know who I am talking about).
I still disagree with their reviews when their points are not valid. Case in point I really like AW.

Looks great with the other cons, and matches the clean, bold toon aesthetic that modern mp figures go for. He looks particularly good with the mmc tape bots and ds starscream and while MP13 is still a nice figure, but you can really tell he's from a different era in terms of style. Overall, nice update to Soundwave, but I wish he had the more menacing headsculpt mp13 has.

However... I really, really, REALLY don't think this figure is worth the price, particularly when they have the gall to sell the other tapes separately (because they know we all want Lazerbreak perched on his arm/shoulder). In fact, it's prompted a kind of watershed moment for me, in that I'm now genuinely unsure if I want to continue with this hobby if prices are going to to keep rising so drastically (and I am so bloody fed up with pre-order shite as well). I mean, well over one hundred and fifty quid and it transforms into a brick, for fucks sake! Add the extra for the cassettes, and it's just taking the piss at this point. So really, how do you recommend a figure that makes you rethink the entire bloody hobby you're involved in?

Ngl. The thought of this signaling a fanstoys decline and maybe some scalpers getting stuck with some now undesirable stock. Kinda like it

I think the word "gimmick" has become synonyms of "extra stuff I don't like". It's used as a despective word more than anything else. Gimmicks are stuff that make the figures (in this case) more appealing to the consumer; diecast, electronics, extra parts and all the features you mentioned are gimmicks... People usually call them "features" rather to avoid the negative connotation of the word gimmick imo.

I really admire Bobby for calling out what he thinks are problems with the figure, not many reviewers do that... but I don't like so much that the "problems" he usually points out, are the result of him not doing a proper research about the toy. That has happened so many times that I really don't take his opinion seriously.

The original MP13 import was around $220. Tapes sold separately. Maybe you're just happy with your collection and don't need more upgrades?

Lol. Some of you put entirely too much stock in what BSF thinks.

This is easily one of the best FT figures in history. I hope this is a joke...

I just received mine yesterday and just transformed him enough to be correct out of box. I noticed the when I push the tape eject button the front does not open, I have to pull it open. Is there a way to fix this or is everyone pulling the door open?

Has anyone taken the gold trim off? How is it expected to pull off? Mine is really stuck and doesn't move at all.

Look at tef tef his review.
You have to push the window inwards and then pull it up.

Thanks guys, got it! I thought the gold trim had to come off to get the glass out as I saw was posted way back. Still kind of a tight snap on the glass! I will check out the review! ;)
