Also, it looks like he might come from the Siege mold. Check out the "vent" things on his chest, compared to Siege Red Alert:


Which I would speculate means that the earth mode is the Selects Clampdown.

 

And watch them also announce the siege mold one well before the earth mode one to try and sucker people into buying both lol.

It may seem like I'm bitter when I say that, but not really. That's how I would do it if I were a major toy company. The thought is just funny to me.

Though, they did announce the proper Deep Cover before the Walmart one was ever seen, so who knows.

I am disappointed that Kickback is the only Insecticon in Legacy. I don't like it when they split teams up like that. Maybe Bombshell and Shrapnel will be in the fourth wave.

We have no idea when Legacy will end, and it seems they've dropped the trilogy aspect. The other Insecticons could come out in a 2nd year of Legacy.

TBH, I would much rather have a new Armada Sideways to get a fully-dedicated mold developed from the ground up that was accurate to the characters on-screen appeareance, instead of just being a forgettable CW Armada Megs-style redeco/remold.

Armada Sideways as a character has his own unique design, gimmick, and characterization that if HasTak was genuinely interested in revisiting in toy form, the character definitely deserves so much more than just being shoehorned onto the Legacy Arcee or the SS 86 Wreck-Gar mold.

Other than the idea of an Armada Wheeljack repaint/remold of Siege/Kingdom Sideswipe, I just don't get why anyone would actively advocate for UT characters to just be a bare-bones retool when it really doesn't fit well.

 

Sideways is just his original toy, same as with Jackpot and Override.

Jack Lawrence likes to populate his crowd scenes with appropriate existing toys but with new heads. If you see a bunch of characters standing in a group and they all look like Armada guys or whatever but they have different heads? They're not supposed to be those Armada guys. They're just crowd filler. If someone seems sort-of-but-not-all-the-way-familiar, that's by design, and it's hitting correctly. Look no further.

 

For example, the 2005 IDW Strika was used as crowd filler by the artist in one of the 2019 IDW books but the writer liked Strika so they are now a part of the ongoing story. The comic is very "current toy" focused ala the original Marvel comic but it is starting to venture out.

 

I don't know why everyone saying this seems to forget the T30 mold, which has an equally good robot mode, a better transformation, and a more accurate vehicle mode.

I think it could share engineering with a G1ified Lugnut. They're overall pretty similar, they'd just need to change how the arms and back kibble transform (in addition to reshelling all the major parts, of course).

Road Rocket looks great, I really like the new front end for the bike mode. I hope this is the version of the mold they use for Flamewar. Knockout's looking pretty good, but I hope the actual vehicle mode is curvier and more realistic than that one. Given that Burnout seems to have been made to look a little more Cybertronian and Leadfoot has some different details from Kingdom Mirage, I'm guessing Knockout is just stylized here since he shouldn't have an Earth mode at this point in canon. (Unless Burnout is reshelled from Skids, which would really surprise me.)

Damn, I got so excited about Override for a minute there.

Is she definitely a Hot Rod retool then, or is that still not decided for sure? I know the last thing we heard about her was that they were still working it out.
