Yeah, definitely personal tastes. Optimus v3 blows away TE. TT Hound is awesome. Mine is still flawless. My FT Hound was a wobbly mess in 6 months and needed a stand to hold him up. Starscream v2 is amazing, HotRod has a fantastic transformation and articulation, but not as screen accurate. TT Arcee is leaps above Rouge.TT Shockwave is far better than Quakewave. The only Fanstoys figure I can uncontestedly say is superior is Grinder/Grimlock. Everything else is easily mere personal preference, since all the 3p you mention have transformations nowhere near as intuitive as the Takara equivalent. Even mp44, arguably one of the most complex transformations, is easy enough to do without the instructions even the first time. TE required several viewings of YouTube videos to get the right tab at the proper moment, without nearly the engineering quality of TT.

I have bought almost every official and 3p figure, and almost every 3p gets replaced by the Takara equivalent. I plan on Acoustic Wave being a placeholder for Soundwave 2.0. But again, as you said it’s a matter of personal preferences and experiences.

 

They all look the exact same but exactly half of them are painted. FT trying to keep everyone on their toes!

 

Someone go tell Bobby Skullface. If he got a painted version, I bloody guarantee he'd prefer it over MP-13.

 

Now you’re just showing off. At least tell me which of those boxes contain my Acoustic Wave.

 

Baba's customers will get the painted version. Or at the very least people with VIP status will get one. Everyone else including ShowZ's customers will get the version Bobby got!!!

Man, this thing is so beautiful! I can't get over it. The posability is also above average with the butterfly joints and good elbow articulation. I've noticed the beveled and rounded edges in hand. FT is definitely embracing the Takara aesthetic - no doubt about that.

I don't have too much time for pics but here are a few more! The last two are the same view with different focal points.

I honestly wasn't expecting to like him quite this much after the lackluster BSF review... usually his tastes are fairly similar to mine...

 

Ah, but is he painted?

 

ive tried folded up white paper and a comic backing board. Both honestly looked the same as long as it is sitting right up against the door. But it is the white comic board in there in that pic.

 

I think so because I can scratch off the weathering effects. I don’t know why Bobby was so disappointed, look at all that linework.

 

It's not recommended to watch OnlyFansToys while playing with Soundwave .....

I know you're joking but I have the recent reissue of MP-13 and its not even a comparison in terms of paint! My MP-13 looks like the painting B-team went out for drinks and then came back to finish up. Lots of sloppiness and blemishes. My Acoustic wave's paint is immaculate. There are a few blemishes... there always are... but this paint job is beyond professional.

That's not to shit on MP-13, the mold itself is great and I'll be keeping my copy. I just thought I was gunna have issues with the Acoustic Wave deco since BSF, who values paint over almost everything didn't like it. I'm glad that's not the case!

That's not important. Is he dependable? That's what really matters.

 

In all fairness though, for $70, it ain't a slouch. But yeah MP-44 beats it by a country mile either way. That take is so hot that it hurts.
