Finished this one up a couple days ago and finally got some time to upload tonight. Another addition to my armada of Seekers, this is Earthrise Slipstream. She started life as a Selects G2 Ramjet, with the wings, tails, and lower arms coming from Thrust. The majority of her jet mode is still the original Ramjet purple. The VOTL housings and chest are Krylon Colormaster Plum. The shoulders were an attempt to color match with the Vallejo purples I had on hand, but I wasn't too thrilled with how they turned out. The turquoise bits (minus the feet, those are original) are Vallejo Mecha Color Turquoise, which I think came out pretty close. I tried to emulate a thinner waist on the torso using silver on top of the black, so the black kind of falls into the background visually. Not sure how effective it is, but I like it. Faction logos are from some Toyhax sets I have. The head is the Slipstream Head for Siege Seekers by Prize Inside, with a custom 3d printed adapter so it better fits the Earthrise mold. I did have to do a minor bit of modding the nose code so the new head would fit, which basically amounted to removing the extra plastic they added to fill in the area around Ramjet's conehead. The new head fits in perfectly. I really wish this mold didn't have so many rivets. I would have been able to disassemble her a bit more for easier painting. But all in all, I think she turned out pretty good, and think she's one of my better customs. Anyway, let me know what you think, and thanks for looking
I'll see about getting a group shot later today. Yeah, it stung a bit using Thrust like that, but I wanted those wings
Perfect, I can't believe it took so long for someone to do this! How I'd really like Hasbro to make her would be new molding for her wings, torso, and lower legs based on the Animated Seeker design, but if they can't do that I'd be quite happy with this (although preferably using the Thrust wings but keeping the Starscream torso/legs).
Looks great! I've been wanting to make a Slipstream for some time now. I just haven't settled on a base body or color scheme yet. I wish Hasbro would just give us one that isn't an oversized gimmicky chunk of plastic like the Ultra Class Cyberverse one. I'd settle for a Cyberverse Deluxe at this point.
To be fair while we don't have enough official Slipstreams to make a definitive stance, Slipstream is actually not defined by having wing fans (and less so, Ramjet style wings if you're being real picky). At 'best' argument is Starscream style wings, but really, anything goes at this point. G2 Ramjet as a base is a very good start for a good reason. It's an oldy but goody visual trick. Part of the reason why some people would claim black is a 'slimming' color.
I'd ideally like her to have forward-swept wings like she did in Animated, but failing that I think the Thrust wings work well for her as an homage to the one official CHUG figure she's gotten before, the Windblade remold.
A little late, but as requested, a few quick shots of Slipstream with some other Seekers. Or in this case, my entire Seeker Squad! With the exception of Red Wing and the Zombie Seeker, all of the Siege Seekers are either custom touch-ups or complete custom repaints, and can be seen in more detail in my Siege Seeker Squad post.
I was debating about using Starscream's wings originally. To get them on Ramjet's body, they just require a small area to be shaved off on the inside of the ailerons to get them around the new tooling on the conehead legs. But I wanted her to be a little more distinctive than the rest, and I was able to come across a somewhat decently priced Thrust, so I went with that to homage the CHUG figure, and tried to find a good, balanced color layout.
I know that, I'm just saying no one should feel they 'have' to do that for wings. Anyone following suit on their own Slipstream should go with what they're happy with.
