So it looks like the Legends bug finally bit me and bit me good.

Along with an absolute motherload of MPs, I got a couple Legends as part of a slightly larger display idea I have. Having the Autobots and Decepticons fighting from the sides of my computer desk. Got together a small list of the main noteworthy bots on each side and ordered most if not all of them.

Having said that, Bee and Cliffjumper CERTAINLY made the cut and had the honor of being the first Legends figures I ever lay my hands on. And I gotta say, they're fucking fantastic. They look great and are SUPER fun to mess with. Very easy to transform, hell, didn't even need to lay eyes on the transformation in any way to get through the whole shabang. Legit i'm vroom vrooming Bee as we speak on my desk, hahahaha.

If anyone here reading this hasn't gotten bit by the bug yet and want to, get the 2-pack.

 

Yeah, I am hooked with the Legends size as well. Mainly because their size is is perfect. I got the Bug Bite and Hubcap version instead and absolutely love the mold. It really reminds me of mini MP-45 but smaller and easier to fiddle with. They're now on my desk as permanent toys.

To me, he's the least derpy of the legend Bees available. Closest to G1 as well. The foot design is unsightly, but the MST has a terrible face and Flipper is outdated articulation wise. Herbie has the best overall balance of pros and cons (just my opinion).

 

alright. I find the fact that it is "g1 accurate" not a very good pro since basically the entirety of the car mode is on his back and folded on the back of his feet not to mention the very wonky proportions that are actually reasonable in the older Newage model since those are actual car parts. The thing is, the original animation model is abysmal with tires that magically disappear and proportions that don't make any sense with out cheating. That's why Takara failed to make a good animation accurate Bumblebee and that's why Newage failed too with these two. What you don't get is that Bumblebee's skinny appearence in the cartoon is completely unachievable without looking ugly from every angle. And please, please for the love of every god that is up there, they're toys of boxy robots and boxy robots don't have the same range of articulation of a human being. This is my opinion and why i think the original Newage Bumblebee is the best and most accurate Bubmblebee figure. It's just a matter of logic and common sense. Oh and the new version has derpy face too so eh

i might pretend i wouldn't have noticed i4 this wasn't a rescaling o4 an already relatively recent mold 4rom the same guys... but i prolly would have noticed anyways.

jokes aside, the 4ace sculpt or glyph is so out o4 tune it just doesn't seem like her. Is there atleast a dark blue version o4 Bee or Cli44 in animated???

 

The blue Cliffjumper isn’t supposed to be Glyph - apparently it’s based on a evil zombie Cliffjumper from the Shattered Glass fiction that the old official collectors’ club used to put out.

The old club fiction is a bit obscure these days (especially for fans who weren’t club members at the time), and the quality of the scripts was usually questionable, but those stories were (and are) a goldmine for lovely-looking repaint ideas.

 

im semi 4amiliar with that lore. I did much appreciate the remolding o4 legends wheeljack into 'Slicer' I con4ess (sorry f tab broken using 4 instead...) although I never 4igured out what the black lancia was inspired r4rom. Regardless, I am a bit sour when it comes to these 4igures, as they are useless in legends scale (this is rather legion) and NA had a per4ectly good bee they had already remolded into bugbite... . I like them but they have no space in my collection and they don't '4ill' inn that character in the roster. Hubcap with his very Sins o4 the wreckers look would have been a nice addition but.. im not saying i wont buy these remolds.. just knowing NA im tempted not to buy them be4ore they go all 'Ninja turtles' on this mold.

I'm guessing there's no chance for a Goldbug to be made out of the V2 mold? Kinda weird to me that they did it with the V1 Bee but not the V2, but I guess maybe it's because they couldn't think of a CJ variant to go with a Goldbug? Idk, I do hope we see a new version of Goldbug in the future tho from NA, somehow.

 

Goldbug would need to be an extensive retool, IMHO.

It’d need the ‘hood’ behind the head, the distinctively-shaped shoulders, and the second foot wheel.

Better to make Goldbug as a retool/reshell of the other Throttlebots (if NA ever gets around to them), than to try and force it out of a mould that doesn’t really suit it.

 

That's fair I suppose. I hope that they eventually get around to it. My hope would be for NA complete the whole cast of G1 eventually, but I'm just not sure if that's gonna be the case. I feel like there's gonna be characters they just don't care about or don't think would sell well enough to justify the effort. Only time will tell I guess hah!

 

IMO it only needs the hood backpack and all wheels on the feet if it legitimately transforms that way.
