Sad to say that Blaster is not really doing it for me in terms of replacing my Unique Toys Soundmixer. But Perceptor as a replacement for the TR one is a definite yes!

Perceptor looks so good I pre-orderd the wave....it's coming with Wheeljack and BBM figures.

 

Perceptor needs some paint. Also I miss some of the details that were on the TR version.

OK, I'm really curious what I'm missing here.

I in ABSOLUTELY no way think Perceptor looks bad, but I also think he looks fairly boring and uninspired (not to mention looking very budget-cutty)
the plastic colors look faded, the design is fairly simple and boxy, the sculpted detail's a bit sparse compared to ER/K, his proportions are a bit dumpy, the paint/deco is REALLY simple.... he almost reminds me of the Evergreen Authentics figures, except for he's obviously got more articulation....

I don't think either of the previous Perceptor's have hit it out of the part (Honestly, I'd probably say G1 still maintains the crown minus the head/face), but both at least were a bit more... dynamic looking, I guess? then this guy....
he just seems bland as a bowl of plain oatmeal.

Silver paint on the bone-white parts and painted treads + plastic colors that were about +2 on color saturation I think would go a long ways to help. Like most of the Legacy Wave 1 deluxes, I'm looking at this guy and going "if Deluxes were still $15 I'd get him without thinking, but in no way does that look like a figure carrying a "premium" $23 price point"

 

He looks like a Generations figure of G1 Perceptor, that's what everyone is excited about. It's okay to not be excited but every "issue" you have seems personal rather than actual observations of the figure itself.

 

Sure hope other figures will be able to sit well on that throne. It’s a cool piece, if anyone’s looking to just get Starscream and get rid of the throne I’ll take it off your hands!

Starscream looks like he\'s sitting on the crapper. lol.

 

Some deluxe figures will look like toddlers on that throne.

Chasing that G1 show model high is a sickness...

 

So to be clear, that\'s basically Earthrise Starscream with an extra pin in his hands and some accessories? 
I\'ve had mad bad luck with Starscreams since I started collecting (Siege came in pieces inside the box, Earthrise had two right hands, SSBB had two left Null Rays.) So technically my Earthrise Starscream is \"incomplete\" and I\'m ok with buying an upgraded version. But you better believe I\'m gonna inspect that Starscream box with a Perceptor before I buy it this time. 

 

Preceptor looks fine but you loose too much if you pick this one over TR, like the articulation points. 

I am guessing that cape is too small for Overlord, he needs a good upgrade kit like this to make him look like his demon general form.

 

They both look great. I don't have ER Starscream, and I love Siege SS for its superiror articulation and the fact that I got the Siege seekers trio and I couldn't with ER. So I might get Starscream on sale because Leader price here in Canada is crazy. Perceptor is not good enough for me to replace the TR version as well. There's no good redeco to repaint the TR version to justify a purchase either. But if it's on sale, I might bite, maybe.

Any suggestions what I can repaint TR Perceptor into?

 

It basically comes down to the simplified Sunbow character model style. Like you I find it blah in figure form, but I get why others are into it.

 

Are there ANY changes to Starscream\'s deco to justify getting what otherwise amounts to a deluxe box?
