Slightly off topic, but kinda not, notice how all of a sudden spinosaurus has been included prominently in the pantheon of popular dinos of late? Like, when I was a kid, no one ever heard of spinos. Now they\'re everywhere. I\'m not saying it\'s a conspiracy or anything, just clearly spinosaurus has gotten a good PR person the last couple of years.

But yeah, the spinosaurus dinobot proves this is a conspiracy.

That's a super fair counterpoint. See I almost like the generic robo heads, I've always loved grunt suits like the lotos in gundam so I'm all for kinda generic heads, but I agree they would look cooler if they were more beastly. Give them some horns, make swoops really long and pointy, make sludges head real wide n flat

Yeah, that's one thing about Transformers, they aren't like other Japanese mecha in terms of design. Like you'll see a lot of transforming robots that turn into dinosaurs more cleanly integrate the kibble into robot mode, but with the Dinobots it largely just hangs off their bodies. Grimlock wouldn't be the same without the giant "wings" or Slag without the Triceratops head acting as a "helmet" of sorts.

Same. I'm still dissapointed I didn't pick up planet x. Nonetheless, seems he's not part of the group, unless he's a foot this time around

I'd say jp3 really helped that, given it's prominent role in the movie.

Dinosaur king too. Anyone remember that too? Lol

Essentially, spinosaurus has been lurking in the background, not as big as the trex, but it still maintains its presence, which is no doubt in part due to its design

How is not fitting in with my collection a good thing?

Back when Jurassic Park 3 was coming out there was a group of paleontologists that were stating they believed that the Tyrannosaurus Rex was not the apex predator that people collectively believed, but was rather a giant scavenger.
One of the paleontologists who worked on the film, Jack Horner, was a proponent of that philosophy and the producers thought it wise to not feature the T-rex as the main antagonist in three consecutive films.
I mean, that would be like finding out the Transformers had actually been on the Earth during time periods that no one expected for five consecutive films, right?

Thus, the Spinosaurus rose to prominence which I'm okay with.
The Tyrannosaur has regained prominence, and the Spinosaurus is pretty damn cool.

So the spinosaurus is meant to be Scorn right?

Also good on Cang toys for helping to keep highly stylized designs alive in an era when accuracy seems to be the only thing going.

Because it’ll fit in my collection and the collection of other Legends collectors in this 3P forum.

I don’t even know why someone would assume they’d possibly change markets after their Mini Firmini has already established them with the 3p legends market.

I did a cancelled write up but its primarily due to reinterpretations in the mid-90s that had it as "Baryonyx but giant and with a sail", followed by JP3's whole.... JP3 situation. And now there's been a lot of discoveries that there's been a lot of drama about, which have lead to the re-imaginings of it

i'd much prefer a CHUG-esque version of this over the MP one TBH, as that'd probably be in scale with the Zoids they're trying to be. I should fish the Berserk Fury out of storage and check his scale with Studio Grimlock but they're roughly on par from memory, so if it was more CHUG sized that'd make the Grimlock full on Berserk Fury scale

Because differing takes on things don't take away from the existing takes on things, and not everything is about you specifically. I think these designs look amazing and I really don't care if they don't aesthetically match anything I currently have. I think that's a good thing. If I want G1 Dinobots I have plenty of options, if I want IDW Dinobots I now have at least one option. If I want weird-ass Zoids-esque warmachine dinosaurs that turn into robots (and possibly combine into an even bigger robot) I now have that as an option. If I just want G1 Dinobots that combine I already have an option for that, it turns out.

Well... Those toilet samurais were quite successful.

Aren't you bored of the SAME thing over and over again?

That's the point, the "kibble" is an aesthetic choice.

Jurassic Park 3 and it's also bigger than the T-Rex, just like Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus are.

I asked them, now let's see how it goes... I personally don't have problems with the current heads.

I feel like if you're upset that these guys don't look G1 enough maybe you should just accept that these designs aren't for you. It's not like its surprising that they went in this direction for the dinobots, matches up with what I'd expect from them based on their predaking. I've never been super keen on the G1 dinobots, not enough to want any in my collection, but I am excited for these guys. I love mecha and I really like the direction they went with them.

I do think the head sculpts could use with a bit more personality, but it goes well with the aesthetic of the bodies so that's not the end of the world for me. There's already a good amount of representation for the G1 dinobots, it's nice to have something that'll stand out.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did I intrude on your exclusive Collectors of Stolen Designs, err... I mean 3P forum?

Moderators, can you please NOT place news pieces about Stolen Intellectual Property, sorry-I mean 3p, on the front page?

With this on the front page it allows unwashed rabble like myself access to the conversation and brings on nonsensical thoughts like my postulating aloud that I would like these toys to scale with the toys from which they have stolen their designs.

It's not my fault, because this was on the front page I thought I could join and no one checked my 3P cred at the door.

    Wow.
I didn't say I didn't like the aesthetic. In fact, I love the aesthetic. I merely said that their Predaking is available in two sizes and I don't think either of them fits in my collection and maybe these dinosaurs might be in the same scale.

But, of course, wondering aloud if these will scale with my other toys means that I think "everything is about me specifically".

I mean, why wouldn't I think everything is about me specifically.
Since we're on this topic, I don't think these Cang Dinobots will look good next to my cats.

like original unique looks of this set who cares if other people refuse to change say and want everything be g1 let them live in g1 world where Dinobot never exist , tidlewave doesn’t get made , beast wars megatron was never thought of

I head of that dinosaur growing up trex was always my favorite

boy that didn’t take long did it for someone complain it’s not g1 does everything need be g1 transformers if all we got was g1 transformers we never would have got armada megatron no tidlewave, no toys from transformers war for cybertron game megatron don’t transform in tank ever he transforms in gun yelling at someone pick me up fire fire,.

if everything was g1 we never would scourage repaint into Optimus prime , never ever will have hot BEAST WARS transformers if everything was g1. does anything that’s transformers need be g1 no not in toys , NOT IN MOVIES, not in cartoons which people accept new designs which are not g1

Fyi Spinosaurus has been through quite a lot of revisions and the Jurassic Park version is highly inaccurate (like most of their dinos). This is what we currently believe they look like: 42D576E1-6F26-4BE3-B312-0A63D7214B7D.jpeg 1260D50C-5E35-4BD7-9024-E3357BF11FCF.jpeg 8A88CE9E-31B8-4A1C-8C46-E05E8166F5C5.png CEB075F0-1258-46D0-868F-F2F24127BF39.png C8CF6865-3D31-4C26-A506-8F4A5F5394E9.jpeg they are not bipedal with long hind limbs like T-Rex.
