Ah, there's the Phantom I want.
So glad I kept the first one in box, should make him easier to sell to grab this one.

Also, which company makes the 1/12th scale horses again?

Today's #deskbot can't deal with you now as he's working on an unsolved mystery so hand him the bomb.

That's all the Magnus references I can think of before I get my caffeine fix.

Kingdom Ultra Magnus plus Reprolabel. Fun toy, giving me nostalgia for the hand me down G1 toy from my cousin when I was 8.

    Thanks again @joetele.

The matrix looks like a large green hexagonal nut? I did not know that about the marvel comic. I always just assumed it either looked like the movie or like it did in the early marvel issues.

I actually prefer the original figure because DoE was the first time I ever saw the character. The horses... Mcfarlane are doing a BAF one with their TDKR line, plus a 'who knows how it'll turn out' one with yet another Gunslinger Spawn. After that... Mythic Legions? Maybe HLJ?

Really not sure, but I want one too!

Want to know something funny? I realised the other day when I had been talking about thinking I had seen Masters of the Universe as a kid I was thinking of Defenders of the Earth :lol  I mean, similar titles and similarly sci fi setting including I think transplanting some traditionally more fantasy characters into a sci fi setting. Kinda makes me wonder if DoE was trying to cash in on MotU's popularity? That said I've no idea when they were released relative to each other ^^

After finding out his original death was, I've always felt there are possible vestiges of it in the animation of the actual scene, like the four Sweep's blasts still being continuous beams on their action shot, and the initial groaning, kneeling and straining reaction of Mags post-shooting could fit the original initial straining against "laser ropes" character animation recycled without the ensnaring beam effects right up until he loses his footing, and the shot reverses for his hitting the floor and exploding. It's the way he moves that suggests to me a pulling himself together motion BUT is that context I'm applying with the knowledge of the alteration?

I mean it is pretty common for animators to salvage what they can when a scene well into the animation process gets dropped or cut but was the decision made that late? Someone ask Flint Dille!

It’s funny, I think there’s a lot of Magnus love in the air today….

I know there’s a lot of talk and hype about XTB’s upcoming version of him, but that’s made me get the big boy off the shelf and appreciate him like I haven’t done for a while.

I’m certainly not going to get too trigger happy and move him on yet. Will wait for the in hand reviews and QC reports before I even consider changing.

Thanks mate, yeah in NZ we didn't really get American comics or TV reliably until the mid-late 90's.

But we did get oversized reprints of the Phantom published by Frew comics in Australia.

With snazzy Brian Bolland style covers natch!

Must admit I have a soft spot for DoE.
Is that the series where they showed the origin of the current Phantom and he had a twin bother (who was evil obviously)?

And in the originally-intended grey, not the by accident and run with purple cossie to boot?!

Why do I feel like the protagonist in a Chucky movie?

Honestly while I prefer CW Magnus, not seeing the "hate." Seems like a perfectly cromulent toy.

Well kinda, they were black and white strips from the 40's-80's so on the inside he was always grey scale. Covers were colour, and he was mostly purple, but the print/paper quality was so cheap you never had to worry about holding on to the covers for long....

The most disappointing aspect of reading superhero comics in NZ was the realisation around 9-10yo that they were actually printed in full colour in the US and just reprinted in grey scale in Australia/NZ :(

The 1st one is the one I like most.

I thought the sound is there in the movie. The creaking you can hear is from what was originally planned but it seems to be Magnus groaning.

I'm sure I'd heard that they kept the sound in the movie. Oh well, I'll blame old age.
