Got the Namco Pac-Man Legacy arcade1up cabinet for my birthday and I love it. Took me about 2 hours to put it together and that was mostly because I was being careful with assembly and meticulous about the packaging/garbage. The cabinet just looks very sharp in the corner I have it in, and I'll turn it on just for ambiance. I have a feeling lots of people do that. Joystick and buttons feel good. Really happy with how this looks and feels.

Been thinking about modding it, but I really like the cohesion of the setup and don't want to make it appear too busy. The included game list mostly hits the short burst 80's retro gaming I wanted. Every arcade Pac-Man game with the exception of Ms. Pac-Man is there, which I get, since that license is another cash cow to milk. This is probably the most I've ever played Super Pac-Man which I'm becoming a big fan of. Pac-Land is the only horizontal game in the vertical game list, and you can feel it's a bit off since the screen feels small when compared to the other games which take up the whole display.

The only thing I might criticize it for is the 12th game, Rompers. It's a good game, but it's definitely not a nostalgia button. Seriously, who remembers this? It also looks too "new" compared to the rest of the collection. I guess you could argue it has Pac-Man-like mechanics and is an evolution of the franchise, maybe. Still would have preferred Tower of Druaga, Galaga 88(would have fit better with Pacmania already being there) or Xevious, which are all vertical games.

If I bought another cabinet it would be an MK or SF cabinet and that I would definitely mod. Been looking at the arcademodup website. Anyone order from that or did you do all the modding on your own?

Now owning one of these I can see how people get hooked on them.

There's a Midway Legacy cabinet that looks good. I am very tempted to pick it up. The games are classic and coop and so very arcade.

The Legacy cabinets are all nice with a healthy game assortment of 12 games each. I was watching reviews on the Midway, the Capcom, and Atari versions.

I wish I had the space for all of them.

Galaga 88 is being saved for the Class of 81 cab with Ms Pac-Man and Galaga.

Don't leave Pac-Man Plus on the shelf. It's fast, furious and funky.

It's definitely a bit crazy and I can see how it's meant for Pac-Man veterans with the randomization elements. Where's my Coca-Cola!?

Did you know that Pac & Pal was scheduled for a domestic port which was changed to Pac & Chomp Chomp, which I assume is supposed to be his dog from the Saturday morning show. Kind of wish that was included, though would prefer Rompers.

Really getting into Dig Dug 2. Took me a bit of playing until I realized the monsters couldn't cross the cracks without having to ghost themselves through. Changes your strategy quite a bit while you scheme to drop a few of them off into the ocean simultaneously for mega bonus points.

I've been on a bit of a tear with Ms. Pac-Man. For some reason, I can really only enjoy it if I'm playing it on the Fast setting (probably because my arcade always did). If I try and play it on the normal speed setting, it just starts to annoy me.

Normal speed is basically hard mode. I usually can only get to red map 3 on slow speed.

    Terminator 2 Arcade Machine - Arcade1Up
So, the Terminator 2 arcade machine went up for sale today and I purchased one for us (my dad's been working on a mancave for our basement so we agreed to split the cost for this). We've gotten the legacy Pac Man, Mortal Kombat II, and NBA Jam Arcade1ups so far. I'm really excited to see how this one turns out.

I'm just curious, if you do not mind... how do you feel about them changing it into a light gun game vs one that used mounted guns with accelerometer's? Now you also hold the guns instead of them being mounted to the cab?

I personally don't mind the change as I didn't grow up with the original Midway machine (I'm far more familiar with the Salvation game, which the handheld guns are more in-line with). I think the mounted guns looks cooler on the original machine but I'm alright with the red and blue guns.

There's just no way to get the mounted guns to work with their form factor. The barrels would be pressed up against the screen.

    I think it's a fair compromise, personally.

I understand the appeal for T2 but I feel like you get better value out of the Big Buck Hunter cab.

The Atgames Ultimate Legends cab at Sam's Club is a good option at $500. While not all 300 games are worth the price of admission, you get probably 50 that hold up well like Burgertime, EDF, several Data East arcade games and several Atari arcade games. The sell point is the USB hook up where you can get more games through CoinopsX or you can get saUCEy.

What I am really going for is the unique form factors. I already have Marvel and Final Fight cabs running retropie. I want the Star Wars, Tron, Dragon's Lair, Tempest etc. I snagged Tempest and Star Wars, but they were at my limit kinda price wise. I am torn, but I passed on Tron and I really want that cab. But now they cost what they cost me to build and my time. The incentive isnt that great for the A1up. The light up Tron stick is only $40....I can build one for $350....it becomes worth my time. This is just my opinion, $700 can be a steal for someone who doesnt wanna spend time building one.

Avoid. My Marvel vs Capcom cab was originally from them. It was set up for 16x9 HD. They didn't fix it at all, just sent me to websites that explained how to program retropie. Customer service sent me links! It was so screwed I learned how to set up retropie and redo the whole damn thing. Resolution for every game was screwed totally. Screen borders are designed for 16x9 tvs. Even so I managed to get everything running great except Daphne. Which honestly all feel like bad res copies anyway. There are other, better pre-built retropie sellers. If you want to do it yourself they aren't hard to build or set up.

Tron is no longer sold out on A1Up's site. So, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but the conspiracy theorist locked away deep down inside didn't believe it would sell out at $700 as fast as it did. When it sold out and sent you to the partner sellers like best buy, I didn't cave. Surprise, back in stock EVERYWHERE. I know people are buying them, my friend did (his ONLY A1Up), but I own 7, most at full price and want at least 5 more I can name, and I balk at $700 every time.

I went ahead and scooped up a $300 40th Anniversary Ms Pac-Man from Walmart. They had sold out across town except for one lone Walmart who had been sitting on two for about two weeks now. I have a feeling, though, if I didn't buy one of them now, it'd be next year before I see them again - especially once Black Friday hits.

Okay, put Ms Pacman 40th together tonight. Interesting to see how the build has changed and somewhat improved since buying my last A1U cab, MK2.

I really enjoyed the games list, although I think it's strange we get Galaga/Galaxian but only one Pacman game. While I'm thrilled to have high speed Ms Pacman finally, they decided to add the gauss filter for that throw-back look on Ms Pacman. You kind of stop noticing it after you really get going but it actually is a bit distracting at first. I prefer the crisp detailing on my countercade a bit more, even if the monitor is junk from most angles on that machine.

Anyway, I can honestly say I've never played Rompers nor King and Balloon. Both are great additions. Mappy and Tower Of Druaga probably need to live on a horizontal display machine rather than here (along with Skykid). Mappy could almost justify its own cab at this point.

What were some of the most popular machines at your local arcades peeps? I remember these games getting a lot of play
    Elvira pinball machine
    Ms. Pac-Man
    Pac-Man/Centipede/Space Invaders
    Streets of Rage 1, 2
    Hogan's Alley
    Golden Axe
    Tetris
    Donkey Kong
    Robo Cop
    Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3
    Carn-Evil
    Street Fighters 2

Do we have any arcade shooters in this line yet?
