Motormaster plus his trailer form a skeleton for Menasor instead of just a torso like all the other SC combiners in the cartoon. Then the limb bots attach themselves to the limbs to fill them out more. This is an example of a 3P Motormaster, specifically one that the Legacy figure seems to be most like based off the leaked info where Motormaster is just the truck cab and the trailer forms the Menasor skeleton and a G1 toy inspired base mode.

He's done up as the enforcer/assassin/general special mission guy for the Tripredacus Council. I don't know if it was the director or voice actor or what, but somebody clearly decided this should be played as Spetsnaz/KGB spook.

I don't know much about Beast Wars, but they look like the same toy to me. And have a transformation that's about as complex as a folding laptop's.

I prefer the cassettes thing to be with the Decepticons (Soundwave) only, not a fan of the Autobots cassettes thing at all. I never believed that both sides should have the same such alt/robot type for everything.

While nothing against the Blaster toy (being announced today) as I do think that it does look quite decent, I never liked the character really, and just never had any interest in the toy.

If there is an Autobot cassettes set to come, if the molds are new/interesting, I'd most probably get it and flip them to Decepticons emblems and make them into more of Soundwave's kids.

Note that I don't see them as cassettes either, but more of a "storage/sleep mode" until needed/activated.

I haven't watched all of BW since it originaly played. Did watch a few episodes as some point about 10some years ago but I am playing to do a rewatch at some point.... but even then, kitty head thing was eye-rolling bad and I do remember the accent now that you mention it, and found it tacky then, still do.

I'm fine with translucent plastic when used for windows and windshields and canopies of Transformers figures with Earth-based vehicle modes because it allows the vehicle modes to be far more realistic than if the figures were made entirely out of opaque plastic with the windows, windshields, and canopies just molded in and painted over in blue or gray or orange or yellow. I don't want them to look like they jumped out of a cheaply made '80s cartoon.

Hard agree, the lack of clear plastic was a big part of why CW figures looked so cheap and bad. I don't thinking I would've been tempted back into the hobby at all if WFC had continued doing mainly painted-on windows.

But what's the point of clear windows, if there's no interior to the vehicle? All it does is show robot bits and make the figure more susceptible to damage.

And often eat up paint budget these days since the clear windshield is often the same piece as the frame and the roof (maybe even the back window) which then need to get painted over to not look like garbage. Painting the windows individually will save that much more budget to further add details we often lack like rims or tail lights.

To give them a sense of depth, so that they don't look like oversized Happy Meal toys. I think the best way to do them is on figures like ER Prime and Sunstreaker, where the reverse side is painted silver to give a more uniform look, but I definitely prefer windows that show robot bits to just flat painted blue or black panels.

The Kitty head made sence from a toy standpoint since he was sold under the “Metals” toyline….Which was the Japanese equivalent of a Transmetal

What Mcdonalds are you going to that gave you such warps perception on what counts as a "happy meal toy", is their food equally of such higher quality at no cost increase?

Ok. Frustration dump here. I don't want a whole new legacy toyline doing EVERY character from EVERY toyline. I would much rather have a toyline like legacy give me the "missed" characters or those that had a "bad" figure. Like Arachnid from Prime, a Titan class Animated Omega Supreme, and so on. Now some of you might say, "Just get those specific figures when legacy does do them." That's half a solution imo. The "look" and "feel" of these new figured don't match the original toylines. Oh and they are much smaller now to. It might work for Arcee from Prime, but Leader class Prime Predaking would barly be the size of his original voyager. But there. Frustrations are vented. I'll go back to be happy now.

I really like Grapple/Inferno, and I own both ER figures, but I do agree concerning their chests. I like that robot modes are reminiscent of their vehicle modes, so windows in the chest etc, are fine. Even chests that look like the front of a vehicle are okay. I never had a an issue with the original more blocky look of the G1 Optimus Prime toy for example, but I appreciate that they broke it up a bit in later figures by giving him abs …. although I have reservations with them using faux belly grill to achieve it. With Grapple moulds the front of the vehicle protrudes quite a bit though, so it looks like the vehicle is driving out of the robots body. I got a similar feeling from Masterpiece Ironhide. In his case the MP toy chest seems to protrude more than previous incarnations of the figure. That didn’t stop me buying it, mind you, because I still appreciated the figure overall, and he has a lovely alt mode. In hand I found it bothered me far less, in his case, but with ER Grapple/Inferno it remains a factor.

Then I saw this new Bulkhead… and odd thing is, his design doesn’t bother me at all! I really like it in fact! I think it’s partly due to his proportionally wide proportions compared to Grapple. It gives me a feel of- his torso is the cab, rather than the cab is driving out of him… if that makes sense.

I think if I had an affinity with the original character, his changes would have bothered me more. I have seen pictures of previous versions of the figure, and I can understand why certain fans are irritated, but my introduction is pretty much this figure, and I like it, big truck chest and all! I liked the design of previous iterations of the character too, but face aside, they may as well be different characters.

The coolest part of the Prime Wars Trilogy wasn't getting old characters as modern toys with their original gimmicks intact (Defensor, Fort Max, etc.). It was seeing characters who had never had those gimmicks before be changed for the sake of having fun in the toyline.

The '84-'85 Ark Crew turning into unique gestalts like Sky Reign, the '86 Movie cast becoming Headmasters & the Primes having been turned into little Decoy Armors based on the Pretenders. Those were super interesting & lots of fun.

I love you.....sadly were never gonna get anything that interesting again (i want to be proven wrong) I don't like the direction the new menasor is taking. Granted we only got a few words but atm my opinion is low. I wonder if a few years from now the fanbase will get pissed cause a figure transforms.
