Reports I've seen said it was TNT that axed the Squid Game plan. Match probably would have gone the same minus the proton pack spots, Hangman just would have been done up as a guard or whatever instead of Staypuft. Still, that was a hell of a turnaround on the theme change.

And the Hangman removing the Staypuft head bit is going to be a great out of context clip in future video packages.

I don't know if there will be a season 4 of Dark Side of the Ring. To me this season kinda scraped the bottom of the barrel on a few topics. I don't know how many more stories are out there to be told.

 

Call me crazy but I could've sworn I've seen the Elite wrestle in the Ghostbusters costumes before in the Indies. Still a cool moment to see them in it.

The problem is that some of the topics that would make good eps are very recent/controversial or are more broad than 1-2 people.

You could do a great Dark Side ep on the Me Too allegations that ended a bunch of careers a few years ago. You could do a decent one on the latter years and end of Punks WWE career and all of his various lawsuits after.

You could do one on the “permanently injured” talents returning and the circumstance around that. Bryan doctor shopped to get cleared and was pushed out/retired prematurely partially due to WWE politics. Paige rushed back and was reinjured almost immediately…. And she’s still trying to return, which is so self destructive that it borders on suicidal. Hell, you could do an ep on that. Suicidal determination. Where you talk about Vader pushing himself to wrestle while going through heart failure.

There’s lots of good topics. But they’re not as ‘safe’ as a lot of the older ones and could risk the shows ability to get wrestlers on to speak

 

The creators have talked about doing an episode on Chris Adams and the circumstances with his death. The Pat Patterson ring boy scandel could be done as well. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

 

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I was not a fan of that costume match. After that excellent promo from a few weeks back, I was really hoping that Hangman was going to get a serious push. Then he gets sent out in a damn Stay-Puft outfit. smh.

Right now, I'm invested in the MJF/Darby feud. MJF has been generating some amazing heat since finally getting away from Jericho and I'm really looking forward that match.

I'm also interested in seeing where this heel turn from Serena Deeb goes. She's a damn good wrestler and I feel like she hasn't been used as well as she should be on camera. We also need more Thunder Rosa. I have no idea why she isn't on TV every week. She's way too good to hide.

It's been cool having Punk and Danielson join the roster and bring a bit more legitimacy to the promotion. Haven't seen a bad match out of either of them so far since they joined AEW. Add in some of the other WWE transplants like Malakai Black, Ruby Soho, Bobby Fish, and Adam Cole and I think they're all making a positive impact on the shows. It's starting to get interesting again.

Eh. You're entitled to your opinion but the match and everything worked well for me.
I view Hangman in the Staypuft outfit as an instance of one of the old wrestling tropes. He outsmarted his enemy by disguising himself so he could attack them when they least expected it.

 

Not only that, it was a bait-and-switch. Everyone initially thought it was Hangman in the horse costume, and Brandon Cutler as Stay Puft, then when Cole & Bucks unmasked the horse and saw it was actually Cutler instead (whose mouth was taped shut so he couldn’t warn anyone), upon realizing they had inadvertently friendly-fired on their own teammate, THAT’S when the twist came into play

 

Just announced, Lesnar’s been (storyline) fined $1 million for his F5ing Adam Pearce on SmackDown last week

WWE needs to stop with the storyline fines.

like I get that we’re supposed to suspend our disbelief while watching and forget that these are athletic actors…. But the fines are so transparently fake, especially the amounts. Nevermind the patterns. They’ve done “Brock gets mad after losing a ppv, F5s someone important, and gets fined/suspended for 4months until he feels like wrestling again” sooooo many times

1m is about 1/2 Brock’s yearly deal. It’s common knowledge that most of the top stars don’t even reach 2m a year on their contract (shirts and toys boost this). So for anything in storyline to cost a mil is pushing believability

not gonna lie, jade has really made me do a double take on not finding muscular woman attractive. as someone whos gotten back into fitness in the last 2 years, I have a lot more respect & appreciation for the body type now.
