So it looks like it is still a review sample. The reviewer talks about things he'd like corrected for the "bulk" run.

Rats, no news of an actual release date. Originally scheduled for July 2021 and we keep seeing these painted samples making me think a real release date should appear any time now.

 

So, what's the general consensus regarding whether the MPG Raiden or MS Radiatron will be "better"?

 

Pretty sure the consensus is that they’re aimed at different markets. Moon studios has my deposit however

 

At this point no-one has any idea. We've seen one of one set and two of another. Also what's 'better' is entirely subjective based on your tastes and what you collect.

The only thing we do know is one is alot bigger. Everything else is guesswork.

 

We do know about a substancial price difference, too

 

In the video the guy talks about the colouring and Getsukis eyes being yellow.. to me it sounds like he's saying this set is "American release" colours not toon colouring.

Does this mean toy vs. toon? and how different are the bot/Gestalt colourings between this "American release" and the Japanese toon appearance?

 

I'm really not a fan of the amount of panel flexing going on. When will designers learn to stop implementing multi-dimensional simultaneous tabbing. Otherwise the robot and train modes look good. Still not convinced all his combined mode foot panels are going to hold though.

Different scales and philosophies entirely. How do you define "better"?

Also I really hope no one buys figures according to consensus.

 

I only collect transformers because others do. Tbh I don't even like robots or trains is that once somebody sees my collection of things that they also like they'll finally believe I'm a real boy.

 

Consensus is a myth. It doesn't matter the topic you will be able to find someone who will disagree with you as long as you don't isolate yourself in an echo chamber of confirmation bias. Including this post.

TLDR;

In this thread, Moon Studio is better. In the other thread, TT is better. Winner winner chicken dinner.

 

The consensus is that my opinion is the correct one.

 

I love both my 3p and officials but this set has me firmly in the Moon studio camp.
But to be fair we have seem much more of the Moon studio. I think the first TT figure is very underwhelming but doesn't mean the full set is bad.

 

Takara's is scaled to the individual robots being in MP scale. This is scaled to the combined mode being in MP scale (Per the shot we've seen of the trains compared to MP Prime and being waaaay too big)

So, chose based on what you want to prioritise, as I still think Moon Studio's Shouki is off model waaay too much but, this only matters to people who want Shouki the character

 

I would say though that since we are getting multiple versions of Raiden then Its a win for both sides. I am disappointed in Takara because it's more expensive and I personally think it looks like a mess. Most likely it's going to come out to 1,200$+ to get all the bots and combine them and I don't think it's worth it for the price. I think the moon studios version looks clean in all modes, albiet the train modes are iffy and or are blocky. Which I am fine with if that results in better stability. Not only that, it's cheaper, and I grew up with Raiden being blocky so I am a bit biased.
