I really like that. No idea if that's actually possible or if those are actually the same parts or anything, but I think that would help a LOT with the feet.
Though in fairness, once it's in colour the digi's don't make it look nearly as bad, a bit like all those complaints about the "camel-toe" on Brawns feet, which is barely noticeable on the figure itself.

Yeah, I gotta say I don't see either one being the slam dunk some are making it out to be. DX9 does some things better but a lot of the surface details and greebles are wrong, and the proportions of both arms and feet are off. FT feet are kinda wonky and the wings are too tall (though they both suffer from that) and from the knees down they're both a bit of a wash.
FT has a thing where they include very specific surface lines and markings from the toon (the two lines on the thighs, the circles in the biceps, the two vertical lines own the chest) and these go a long way to tie their figures into the toon design without necessarily going quite as "derpy". And thats where I like FT's over DX9's. FT tends to give their figures slightly more dynamic/heroic proportions. They still look like the toon, but they have a "poise" that the toon models lack.
Plus, the finish on FT's stuff is (apart from very rare exceptions) really pretty. It may occasionally suffer durability issues but they just look great. The more I look at DX9's the more I think it misses that MP premium finish.
Rouge gets a lot of grief. I own her and she has some definite issues, but folks seem to overlook that she's pretty revolutionary origami-wise. FT Motormaster packs an entire trailer into a reasonable backpack, while FT Arcee turns a long lanky fem-bot, with the smallest shoulder pauldrons of any previous Arcee bot, into a pretty sizable car. That in itself is worthy of note. Sure, some of the proportions are a little weird but compare the backpacks between Rouge and the Takara effort. It could definitely have done with another pass to try and get the proportions more toon-like, but I give her props for folding up that car so small.

Personally, my hope is that if Fanstoys sees enough dissatisfaction they'll decide to take the design back to the drawing board. It's easy for me to picture a Fanstoys Powerglide that is more akin to Dunerider, Rig, Hunk, and Spindrift 2.0, and that's the Fanstoys Powerglide I want...so if Fanstoys is looking at this post, just lettin' you guys know!

There's a weird assumption on this board that wvery product is made for everyone who also bought every other product.

It doesn't matter that DX9 Richtofen exists, or whether this is better than it. There are still more than enough people who don't own that figure thst will buy this one.

To be fair to Fanstoys I dont see how they could really improve it, at least at the level of technology we are at currently, thats not to say it wont change tomorrow, things progress at breakneck speed in the 3rd party world.

It's not about improving it, it's about the design philosophy they started with. They made a lot of compromises for the sake of a non-toon accurate real-world alt mode with an apparent gimmick of compressing a large plane into a smaller bot. If they'd started from the design philosophy of using a small, toon accurate chibi alt mode like their other minibots, it would have been easy to make a toon accurate bot mode that blows DX9 out of the water (plus it would have been easy to avoid using a faux part for his head).

Looks better than the DX9 except i am worried about stability from the bottom of the feet... probably 2+ years at this point. It would hopefully fill in the gaps better between wings and chest.

That said, way too far in the future, and will be sticking with my DX9, but i love minibots and about all i care now in terms of new TF to acquire.

I would hope FT would just release this then make a Powerglide 2.0, and I would buy both.

also, not sure how FT will have waist swivel. The DX9 has the swivel. Looks like the FT wings connect to hips. This would mean no waist swivel.

I never saw him twist his waist in the cartoon. It’s toon-accurate!!

At this point, your guess is as good as mine.

Hopefully that’s not the case because that would be weak.

Once FT renders have zero mechanical bullshit it's very unlikely they touch them again. If I wasn't expecting at least one combiner pieces I'd say any of there guys are up in the air for 2022.

Their Powerglide seems to fit in just well with their Warpath.
Maybe that's what they were going for to begin with?

If you look at the details on the front of the wings in bot mode and compare them to the alt mode picture there is a pretty good sized panel there that is not in bot mode. My first guess would be those form the side of his torso in bot mode which would have the wings connected above the waist (the panels might be the side hip skirts, but that doesn't look right to me with what limited info we have at this point). Even if I'm right it wouldn't be a guarantee there really is a waist swivel though, but at least there would be a chance.
