I never understood that one either. I tolerated Hawk's shift from blonde to brown, chalked it up to sandy blonde that got darker with age, but that Low Light... you wonder what they were thinking. As a kid, that kind of thing made me think, "Well, if they don't care enough to bother with any kind of consistency, then why should I care?" As for Flint-n-Roll, it's hard to take anything from the late/early century TRU offerings as anything but a lark.
You say that about Hawk but one thing that I did like was, when given a flight suit and jet pack, someone took the time to sculpt his original face into the new head. And it's not far off the original figure. But, yeah, I wrote his hair color off as age as well. Which is what I tend to do with Outback. Maybe his hair was already lightening up as he got older and his time in the sun just bleached it further. As for Low-Light and Rock and Roll... you're right, they probably didn't care.
I think a GIJoe Beasts pack with a crocodile, 2 x wolves (Timber mold with new head), and exclusive Cobra Commander as a snake would sell well.
I wish Hasbro would Reissue the Sky Patrol Series. I'd love to see a Sky Patrol - Sky Raven Reissue. Seriously. Reissueing the original Skystriker for Haslab like they are doing is fine and all, but I'd much rather see something that's truly worthy of Haslab, like a proper Terrordrome. I'd absolutely kill for a GI Joe The Movie (1980's) themed (painted to the 9's) Terrordrome. Wouldn't the rest of you?
Anyone else notice that amongst all the alternate stickers for the haslab skystriker are a couple of killer whale stickers? Is that there to just tease us about a potential haslab hovercraft in future years? It almost has to be, right? It's not like someone is going to put killer whale decals on their F-14.
Maybe people are holding out for non TF Outback. No idea why this one has grey hair. The war on redheads continues.
Isn't it because the UK/European release in 1990/91 had gray hair? https://www.yojoe.com/action/int/tfoutback.shtml
I'm guessing most people don't know about this figure given it was never released in the US and iirc is pretty difficult to get on the aftermarket.
I see that as yet another reason why the current skystriker kickstarter isn't providing the bang for the buck for the wouldbe backers... Especially when their earlier regular retro (re)releases gave us that 80s nostalgia The G.I. Joe Thread If only they could get it toooogethaaaaaa if only they could find a waaaaaayyyeee
Hey, just a warning for everyone. I've noticed my MoD Zartan is developing stress marks in the elbow hinges. Idk if this is because the joints are too tight, the plastic is too soft, of from me putting him into the freezer for a minute or two to get him to turn blue (which is, side note, the only way I can get it to work for an extended period time. Water doesn't do anything, and ice changes back the moment it's removed). Just be careful out there. This combined with my seemingly loosening neck ball joint it making me worried this colour changing plastic won't hold up
That's disappointing, but thanks for the warning! Might just be problems with the expansion and contraction from the freezing, but you'd hope they'd have taken that into account.
Honestly, this is why I don't plan on using the gimmick itself. I bought this guy because I liked the base color scheme better over the retail version and I loved the extras he came with. The color change gimmick, while a neat throwback to our childhood toy, just isn't something I'll ever mess with. Not to mention I was kind of afraid that something like this might happen.
I thought I saw guys throwing in the fridge not the freezer anyways. Frozen plastic doesn't tend to do well on a molecular level. I mean anyone who used plastic ice trays knows they eventually wear out and crack.
Yeah, that's true. I don't know how many ice trays I've had to buy over the years until I bought a fridge with an icemaker. Plastic just starts to take a beating if left long-term in extreme temperatures.
