This thing needs to be sent back to hell where it came from and the person who greenlit this committed to a mental hospital
Really not liking the art direction. Hopefully it'll have great writing, because damn. Voice acting is good though.
Watched the preview. Just couldn’t get into it. This brand of humor has never really worked for me, and I hate the art style.
I’m going to watch this purely for the humor. A “serious” show would not have interested me as much. I still haven’t watched the Aquaman movie.
So this crap is out and as expected, it is crap. I think the writer has to be the same guy as Thundercats Roar (edit: yep, he is: Victor Courtright - IMDb) because he basically just lifted the character personalities from that show - Mera is the same overly aggressive and impulsive idiot as Cheetara, Vulko is the same as Tygra, being an officious mother hen type, etc. The main villain was basically russian miner Donald Trump and his hand-robots, no idea if this guy is a real DC villain but I doubt it, probably invented for the show. The animation is ugly, characters make such faces it is bordering on caricature. DC is clearly trying to make this the next TTG... and sadly given how popular that trash is, they might succeed. One weird thing is, this seems to be set in the continuity of the live action movie, starting off right where that ended but being more silly (for example everyone calls Orm Ocean Master and he is not imprisoned, just given a room with a bad view). No character can keep his face looking the same for more than 2 seconds on this show. It's like they hired graffiti artists who draw troll-faces to do the facial animation. I let you in on a secret... it didn't have great writing. Not surprised given it is done by the Thundercats Roar people.
Communist Itchy & Scratchy (AKA “Worker & Parasite”) was a far better cartoon than this (And Thundercats Roar) and it was only featured for a few seconds as a one-off joke in that one Simpsons episode
That was hilarious, I remember it. We had a lot of really abstract soviet toons back then. But really, if you wanna see communist Tom and Jerry, that was Nu Pogodi! ("Just you wait!") with the lazy hoodlum bum wolf and neat and tidy worker bunny. I watched it a lot as a kid. Sadly, not many episodes were made. Not just that, they literally hired the same writer and animators. See my post above.
It's a low bar to cross. Roar has 2.2 on IMDB and I feel this will go down there too, pretty soon. Btw, apparently russian Donald Trump was supposed to be the Scavenger: Peter Mortimer (Prime Earth) Except they renamed him Mortikov from Mortimer for some reason.
After watching the whole thing, I think the best character they got was Topo. (can't find a pic of the animated version. Just imagine this version, but with one of those anime cat-smiles)
