I'm gonna be honest I forgot he existed till they said the tow truck was him (honestly my theory is some care right now so they can bitch about the movie/about a character being a different alt mode when honestly no one except like 10 people care about Battletrap).

Yeah but he's also the only Scourge to have been a long nose truck with a black colour scheme. Unless it was a happy accident like ROTF Optimus/Jetfire to Armada I'd think there was some intention calling this guy Scourge or all bots.

Prob one of the most obscure characters in this franchise, and yet Needlenose keeps getting ignored.

Really? Cause I don't see it (probably miss understanding what your saying)
    [IMG][IMG]

I think he looks more like he did in RID (and maybe DOTM Megs) than Movie Galvatron

I do get the comparison, I'm just not sure if it's intentional or not. I think the RID truck looks more sleek and new as such, not old and rusty like Scourge in ROTB.

That's true but the actual truck looks more like RID scourge and also just him being a long nose truck is honestly more of a RID homage (whether intentional or not I like it).

Yeah it's the fact he's that sort of long nosed truck at all rather than the exact finish he's sporting.

So, now principle filming is done it's the (hopefully not too) long wait for for information. It would be nice to get some scraps before an actual trailer drops so I guess all eyes will be on social media.

Yeah and I get that, but for some reason I doubt that they looked at RID and thought let's make Scourge a long nose truck because of that, instead I just think they picked it because its a scary looking truck for a villain, and it just so happens he looks a bit like the one RID. I could be wrong and I would be happy to hear it was indeed inspired by RID, if that's the case.

Hopefully, I feel at least toward the middle/end of November about something. I think we will get a trailer announcement for ROTB at the end of Nov. for December I think the week of Dec.17 (the day No Way Home releases).

Yeah maybe, there could've been any number of vehicles they created concept art for before settling on a truck.

I suppose in a way you're right about AOE Galvatron and RID Scourge with them both being a kind of mash up of an Optimus and a Megatron :D

Anthony Ramos said to keep an eye on Instagram so maybe we can expect some small thing there.

From going off the past movies, I expect the first teaser trailer in December or February?

Yeah I think for ROTF, DOTM and AOE it was a teaser at the Superbowl, but December for TLK. I can't remember when we got the first trailer for the 2007 film.

Maybe a image of him and Mirage (or of just him) in either robot or Porshe mode from ROTB. Maybe stills from Empire Magazine or a magazine first look.

ROTF was actually released on the exact same date proposed for ROTB, June 24th back in 2009. I believe the 1st trailer for ROTF was shown on February 1st 2009, both TLK & DOTM had first look trailers in December but ROTF didn't. Correct me if I'm wrong?

I'm not sure when the first trailer for TF 2007 was. I would like to know if anyone has the answer?

I remember seeing the first Mars Rover teaser with Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest back in either late June or early July of 2006.

Problem is @Magnum Dongus (cool username, BTW), is that that's a false equivalency (I think):

This discussion seems to have cropped up in reference to Battletrap, so I'll focus on him - according to the TFWiki, Battletrap has had next-to-no significant appearances in fiction, with his only major role being in a BotCon exclusive comic. Same goes for the Micromaster Barricade and all the 'Cons who had the name Blackout pre-TF07.

This is not the case for the vast majority of Marvel characters, who've been written about extensively over the years - Iron Man is a very important character in the Marvel comics universe (his own comics aside, he's been pivotal to quite a few major arcs), so you've got a lot of reference material for him. Same goes for Captain America. And Thor. And Wolverine. And Deadpool. And so on...

For most Transformers characters, you don't have that - Battletrap is a bit of an extreme, but you'd be surprised how many characters are pretty much names and bios, without any fictional appearances to go by.

A character who's recently escaped this nebulous zone is Whirl - pre-MTMTE, Whirl was just a background Wrecker (appearing in a scattered amount of G1 Marvel stories), who was nameslapped for a Universe toy who only appeared in a Collector's Club story and an Evac repaint in ROTF. Post-MTMTE, Whirl got an FOC and a Generations toy and appeared as a major character in both Cyberverse and RBA. I wouldn't be surprised if he (or she - remember RBA Whirl) shows up in other TF media in the future.

After fifteen years of almost constant TF content, we are still in a position where more people can name members of the Justice League than can name members of the Autobots. The Holy Trinity aside, even the lesser members are still quite popular - Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern have (and have, generally, always had), quite a sizeable fandom even before the former two appeared in the DCEU (and were mostly well-received) and Flash got a pretty good CW series.

In Transformers, again, we don't have that for a significant proportion of the characters (I'm going to be optimistic and say something like 80-85%, but it's likely closer to 90%). Battletrap doesn't have a big fandom (hell, he seems to have been generally regarded as the "other guy" of the Duocons - Flywheels/Skytread seems to have always been the more popular one)

Generally nameslaps are used when the name didn't really have a character attached to it originally - and sometimes, the name can develop a new identity. Barricade, for instance, is pretty much a Decepticon police car now - and has even been portrayed that way in G1-based media (e.g. WFC cartoon).

Yeah that's right, just not sure when the first proper trailer finally dropped.

I'm surprised there's nothing on TFwiki or IMDB with trailer dates, at least I've not found anything.

That should be the one that was the most downloaded teaser on Yahoo ever (at the time) I found posts about that dating to January 2007 so that trailer came out either in December 2006 or January 2007
