As someone with no familiarity or attachment to the character from any media property, it just looks like a really boring figure. Maybe it's just because they're trying to pack in too many homages, but the design is really bland. Transformation looks the same as Grapple / Inferno, and the resulting robot looks like exactly what I'd imagine a truck that stood up as a robot to look like. It's not a bad thing, but its just really tired. Like, a transformation that was conceived of nearly 40 years ago. I don't hate it, I don't hate the line, but I'm not in any way excited for it. Hope it makes some Animated / Prime fans happy though.

    He just isn't bulkhead.
I doubt the planned refit into prime Optimus will work any better.
I think we would have been fine with a Reissue of the First Edition bulkhead.
Way superior and much more bulkhead.
    Don't get me wrong.
The figure itself isn't totally bad.
A little boxy but otherwise not bad.
But not as bulkhead, or Optimus for that matter.
Does remind me of movie hound though.

I get why some people are disappointed but I think he looks cool and will look great next to my other figures. It’s an interesting experiment for sure to try incorporate these newer characters in this aesthetic.

Thread won. Please send to Hasbro's Transformers design team.

I'd only add that this is a significant step down. This is T30 all over again. Even some of the engineering on Bulkhead (and Skids even more so) looks worse. Hollow City has returned in full force.

I for one am glad it's not any of the previous designs, he will fit right in with the rest of the figures I've been collecting for the last 3 years

Considering we got 2 Magnus Multiple Optimus ect ect you have to remember this is a G1 Bulkhead. How many main characters were in Prime... Not many... so... There will be more opportunities for future Prime Accurate.Toys. now we get G1 Bulkhead... G1 bumblebee race car ect ect
I for one am happy we finally get the Prime cast with noses

I'm biased towards G1 canon immigrants, but I understand why some others may not like him.

I want a CHUG reinterpretation of Bulkhead. It’s been at the top of my want list for years now.

This isn’t it, though. It’s a bland, generic product with almost none of the character’s basic design elements. It doesn’t have the soul of the character at all. And he definitely shouldn’t be wielding a shield made of canvas, or even be a flat bed truck for that matter.

This dude was a main cast member in two different shows, he’s had more character development than most of the G1 cast. It seems so odd to me that he would get so little care, when background g1 characters have gotten entirely new molds devoted to them.

I think it’ll be a fun figure in hand

that said I do wish the chest compressed more or something

I’ll still buy a apcs bulkhead if/when that drops

Prime was an interesting time. Set 3 years after 2010 it almost felt like a G1 Continuation finally having Cullen and welker together again... Then we spin off into an abridged show that covers everything under one roof. Having a G1 Bulkhead is a reverse homage... feels like home. Besides 1st addition Bulkhead still holds up... Anyone that into prime should already own one or would be willing to hunt one down.

I see what they were going for; taking design elements from both Animated and Prime Bulkhead, but Geewunny. Execution leaves a bit to be desired. I, personally, would've liked a bit more engineering to create his torso and keep his hips wider with stumpier legs to look less like Dr. Robotnik.

This is very close to how I feel; the fact that Arcee and Knock Out are also remolds and well

not anything more unique, is quite upsetting. Look at G2 Optimus; he has ER Prime's lower legs, but look how much of him is new. Why can't the Prime characters get that amount of effort? And Armada Starscream supposedly shares something with this "Shine" Starscream; I'm hoping he still looks like his usual self, because otherwise, all 4 of the non-G1 figures I was excited for will be a complete wash, which kinda defeats the point of "Legacy" imo, because it's just me buying G1 only again.

I think it’s unfair to say Bulkhead and Arcee has no effort put into them considering they’ve entire new molds. Considering we don’t know what ‘shine Starscream’ looks like I wouldn’t worry too much about Armada Starscream. But considering Cybertron Metroplex is pretty accurate, we’ve nothing to worry about on that front, methinks.

They're new molds, yes, but they're being forced through the G1 lens. It's a taste of Prime but a whole heaping helping of G1 at the core.

It's not even a Bulkhead-specific mold, it's an Optimus pretool that just so happens to be reused as Bulkhead.

Arcee fares a little better because she's a bike and this is up in the air as to whether or not she's the intent of this mold or a pretool so it's passable for her.

Knowing that Knock Out is a retool of SS86 Jazz is just further making the point, here.

Why can't the homages be more than just reuses with a name-slap applied? Why can't they be mini-masterpieces of the characters? I get that FE and PRID exist, but you mean to tell me they can't use today's articulation and construction to take those figures and really knock 'em out of the park?

Prime fans deserve better than a hodge podge of some odd Optimus Prime pretool, Prime Bulkhead, and AOE Hound in some $32.00 Mash-'Em-Up.

That’s really it for me. I got loose TFP FE and TFA Voyager Bulkheads for relatively cheap a couple years ago. They are both fun solid figures. This new one has some of the requisite bulk, derp and friendliness, but those skinny legs kinda kill it for me. When I think of Bulkhead, TFP is really the first thing that comes to my mind.

Bulkhead has AOE Hound's alt mode, and AOE Hound is Bayverse Bulkhead in all but name. Who's to say the mold's intended use isn't Bulkhead and retooling it into Prime is a situation like TR Octone where Prime isn't the primary use of the mold?

That's a fair guess. I can see that being a possibility. That said, Optimus Prime pretools and retools have been met with mixed reviews through the years, especially in recent times. One of the outstandingly positive exceptions is CR/RID Black Convoy/Scourge... He basically owned that mold when it was all said and done. (He was awesome!)

I just think Prime characters deserve proper updates, that's all. It's just out of respect for the characters and the original designs, they're incredible pieces of plastic. They deserve greatness is all.
