Man those G2 colours are trippy! What was the convention exclusive they were selling/had nearly sold out of? Can we assume the shadowy figure at the end of the new animated promo vid was G2 Assaultus looking for payback on Maximus Pro? or a new product altogether??

I think there's a good chance MMC will eventually do Maximus Pro in his acid-trip G2 colours - providing G2 Assaultus sells well.

Ooh improved wrist articulation over what assaultus had for first aid arm. Plus G2 colours for assaultus too

The rear windows look awful... But the combined mode hand tilt and splay out fingers are a very nice surprise!!! The bar is being set higher and higher!

Yeah the window situation is as bad as I thought it would be. It probably wasn't possible, but I would have taken the approach to cut a very shallow area where the the windows should be and use translucent inserts like Impetus did with the copter windows or something.

Either way the robot is compact with zero signs that the combiner is anywhere in there. The robot thighs somehow make a chunkier combiner arm bicep without compromising either mode. And the cherry on top is that the combiner hand has somehow has pivot and spread articulation despite that. This is a fantastic improvement in all around engineering ingenuity when compared to the compromises Impetus and Volatus made. I'm super stoked about this guy and the rest of the team and hope they can solve for combiner stability issues the first go around this time.

I'll probably skip First Aid at first, see how Streetwise and Blades turn out. Defensor without First Aid is famously canon, can wait for a second run. :)

@Tiller's idea about doing Impetus style "shallow" windows is really good, wonder why it wasn't implemented. Would have made alt mode look SO much better.

First Aid is looking awesome. So cool that the limbs are interchangeable tween combiners. And I hope the next combiner is Devy

I'd like to point something out: Look at the knees. Look at the combiner elbow joint. You thought working in split hands was impressive? Try knees rotating in tandem for forearm articulation.

Not enough room for it this time around. Look at the 2nd pic above. Legs have to fit in there in both modes and rotate, so there isn't enough plastic width to allow for separate clear windows like with Impetus. You'd have to do those whole panels as clear plastic, but then you need to worry about having paint match up with plastic, because we can't do fully painted figures. And chances are that'd look awful. Not to mention risk fragility depending on how much of it would have to be clear plastic. Better to do it like this.

I do abhor the "large piece of clear plastic with large amounts of paint in order to make a window" method. If separate parts can't be done, opaque is indeed better.

Was consideration given to doing dark tinted/black windows? (like many recent Sideswipes) A bit of googling shows most ambulance vans seem to have very dark windows. Wouldn't be toon-accurate, but might have looked better as a figure, with the painted side windows fairly closely matching the windshield.

This is specifically the toon deco, so light blue felt like the best call there. IF a toy version happens, we'll see what we do. Might go dark because yeah that looks better, but the toy also had blue windows. So bit of a pickle there.

I'd be all for a toy-version deco, with the red stripe on the sides. (or even better a toy/real-world hybrid, using the red stripe but dark tinted windows)

I have to say that I’ve been very impressed with both Assaultus and what we’ve seen of not-Defensor so far. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the not-Protectobots.
