Based on what the recent Leaders have brought to the table, I am skeptical too. Although I didn't consider Dragon Megs gettting the Commander treatment a likely possibility in the first place. It's one of those 'in between class' figures with not enough going for him to bump him up to the upper class.

Agreed (sadly). But to be fair, there is only so much they can do on these livestreams. I am expecting Toy Fair (that is the show where they tease the Titan right?) to be the time and place for the proper promotion of the line.

 

Well, yes. But you can only write based on what you know. And because the full breadth of our sociological knowledge is limited to the human realm, it's only possible for us to write from a human point of view. Because of those limitations, any attempt to envision something beyond that scope is hilariously limited. Writing one inhuman character is hard. Writing them consistently as such is even more difficult. Writing hundreds of them, and also giving them differing personality traits is nigh-on impossible.

Again, it's a high-minded exercise, but it's not a practice that can ever last for long. Even for real-life asexual or non-binary people, they still recognize and regard the people around them in "proper" terms. There's no "non-gendered" way of thinking.

 

So is Dragstrip a combiner limb or not?

Apparently he turns into Menasor's right arm. I'm thinking skipping the CW mix and match approach should lead to more stable combiners like Devastator. Also it means combiners won't be stuck with the interchangeable 1 Voyager, 4 Deluxe formula, regardless of their altmodes. We can now have a 1 Commander/4 Deluxe combiner. Others could have 1 Leader/4 Voyager gestalts. Or even 2 Leader/1 Voyager/2 Deluxe. Or any other combination.

And because each individual robot doesn't have to take on the role of two different types of limbs, and connect to a variety of torsos, the connection can be designed to be more robust and stable.

 

Combiner limb (or at least "component". Calling the G1 Stunticons "limbs" may be a bit of a stretch, depending on which character design they favour).

These are most of the BW characters’ first figures since their show ended and not only are they not in their show’s style but they aren’t even beasts. It took over 30 years for them to make Netflix Soundwave with an accurate cassette player mode, freakin Soundwave! Also you bring up Victory Saber who is a HasLab project? That is not even in the same ball park. I am not even going to bring up Lugnut, Doubledealer, Blastoff, or all the other countless characters that got reinventions before they got accurate figures.

Also yes ER was 2 years ago, meaning the norm for generations is reinvention of characters rather than accuracy to their source material.

 

As much as I despise Energon Slugslinger (it's a personal thing, he knows what he did) that's a pretty inspired choice for vehicle Airrazor.

 

Going back to what I said earlier, I don't think the strategy is so much "do a reimagined update first, and an accurate update second". It's just that the cycle of trademark renewals doesn't line up nicely with the brand strategy most of the time. Legacy isn't supposed to be a Transformers: Prime renewal push. It's just that most likely, a Prime sub-theme just sort of emerged because it's about time for them to reinforce their trademarks, and they're past that phase of doing inappropriate name-slaps.

I\'m normally jazzed (heh) for any new line launch, but this... not so hyped. This all seems like such a massive step back from WFC, especially Kingdom. 

Whatever. Barring a bomb-ass showing from the Armada section, this line is going to save me a lot of money. Because most of it looks like garbage.

Optimus being a reissue of his Kingdom Core figure of course, but isn't the only core listing for Megatron the G2 one, while that mural has him in his WFC body in G1 colors?

Not that I think that indicates any Megatron release in Legacy that we haven't heard of or anything, just that I think it's interesting.

 

My eyes may be playing tricks on me, but that Megs looks to be rocking a purple and green deco, a la G2, thus matching the Core figure listing.

The ER poster had T30 Trailbrealer on it instead of the one that was coming out so they aren’t always accurate. Plus they did say Legacy is a continuation of the WfC story/line so those models will be reused in the next tv series. I guess Legacy is technically WfC Year 4 now.
