Thoroughly. Jokes aside, you might be better served getting one from the aftermarket before the prices go through the roof.
The display stand does actually come with the artwork on it, so that's nice. One difference from the box pics/prototype is the two sword sheaths don't have full chains. They both have a few links and then there's a couple of plastic connectors so you can attach it to his belt. It's not a great workaround and it's something that should be explained. They really need to start including instructions, especially if there's specific changes like that. You can't attach both swords to his belt, not a huge deal, but would've been better to be clear. The only other nit pick off the top of my head is the knees. The entire rest of his body is a little beat up with pitting in the skin while the knees are completely smooth. Probably the only reused part of the body if I had to guess.
What was the wait on this figure? Almost 2 years?? That skeleton sitting in the background with the cats Another great review from D. He’s the one guy I can always tell his photos. He just has this style that stands out. Yeah it seems like there’s a few things they changed from the solicitation pics. My friend just got his. The cape is way different. He did point out the knees had scars on them in the proto. I’d love to get this but I’m starting to jump in that camp that they make a variation in the future. My buddy said he got burned on Hellboy a while back. He hated the new movie but loved the look of the figure and the Harbour design. He bought the one but it was a few months later and comic shop version came out that had more shit like swords, his horns, fire effects and his shirt. They didn’t give him a helmet which some of the figs I have come with. I didn’t jump on the Super 7 movie stuff but I did get the BWS Conan #1 version and somewhere I’ve got the old Toybiz 2 pack. Can Kull be far behind. I don’t think the body would be able to reuse but you never know.
I'm not necessarily the biggest Conan fan and had planned on passing on this figure, but after watching D's review I'm sold. I really need to stop watching his reviews, lol. Those hooks for hanging the swords are a bit concerning though, especially if they're plastic.
Maybe someone with more Mezco experience can help me out here. I checked my waitlist order on Mezco and it has the NRD indicated on it. But checking another item I have waitlisted it dosent have that listed and an actual preorder item has the NRD amount listed So im baffled on if Conan is waitlisted or not. I havent gotten an email about it. Anyone got any Mez wisdom they can share?
Hmm I’m not sure about the NRD part since waitlist usually doesn’t take that. But I’ve been converted before and you usually get a email that says WAITLIST ALERT!! and then Doc was showing with the green po bar after a few days. Perhaps the more Mezco veterans have more info on it.
Yeah that happened with my Solomon Kane order. This is the only one that has that. The order email I pulled up even had the NRD and a “remaining balance” listed. Hence my confusion. *internal screaming intensifies*
From my order emails. Adding a Gomez WL for comparison. It’s a bizzare thing. I used the Mezco Help contact sheet to see what’s going on here.
The gold squad didn't require a deposit so it isnt on there. The conan is still waitlisted and the new wasn't taken hence the grand total shows the final price which includes the nrd.
No mention of a nrd on the gold squad page. This is the same as any with nrd. If you pay the nrd then the new total is reflected if not then the grand total is the price with the deposit when it flips. My Solomon kane is the same. I was waitlisted and it reverted so I owe the total with the deposit included because they never collected a deposit since it was a waitlist order when I placed it.
Cause we haven't talked about this in a while and because there's been new releases and teases, how about some top 5 wish/speculation lists? 5. Mystery Inc. aka Scooby Gang. Mezco already has a license to do figures, doing the gang in a realistic style similar to how they executed Popeye would be really cool. 4. Red Sonja. They've just released Conan, the only woman who was a match for him is a no-brainer. Honorable mention goes to his first love, Valeria. 3. Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider reboot. It's right up Mezco's alley: an iconic and visually striking character with lots of accessories. 2. Jonny Quest. Again following in the footsteps of the realistic Popeye, the Quest family is an easy win. Just use the Vapor body for Jonny and Hadji, pull the Blade mold out of semi-retirement for Race, and use either the Two-Face body or give the Joker/Spock body one last ride for Dr. Benton Quest. 1. Mass Effect. We need some top shelf Normandy goodness. Mezco already plays around quite a bit with magnets so it would be the easiest thing ever to incorporate magnetically attachable weapons on the back and hip weapon "slots". A Mezco-sculpted Shepard, Tali, Kasumi, Garrus, and Mordin would be mind-blowing.
I’m boring. Every time this topic comes up anywhere, I’m gonna say Ninja Scroll. Jubei, the 8 Demons and some side characters using soft goods and tons of accessories Mezco style will suit me just fine. I’ll buy them all.
