G1 and movie, IDW was good until he became a politican. (Loved him before that)

 

But that is the only occupation that actually makes sense for Starscream...

 

Not to mention he didn't really do anything significant before that...

 

All he does now is walk around and sell his latest toy.

 

Odd criticism to make considering the same could be said of nearly every single character in the entire franchise. I Would love to hear more of your reasoning behind your comment as if that's a sole reason for criticising him it comes across like you don't like this franchise very much which is odder still considering you have an account here in which you have made plenty of posts.

Edit just reread the series of comments and it appears that you are addressing Idw starscream with body swapping and to a degree under certain writers he hasn't done much or the story has focused elsewhere and that is pretty normal in a continuity that is over ten years old but the basic point is still there though. To criticise a transformer for selling toys is a bit strange. Optimus Primal and nearly all of the Beast wars cast did it loads.

The beast wars cast did it loads huh? Loads? Rattrap had three figures over the span of two series, Megatron four, Airazor two, Tigatron one, Rhinox two, inferno one, Waspinator two, quick strike one, Silverbolt one, only Primal and Cheetor had lots. Starscream changes through THREE bodies in the course of only months. His FoC body, his Armada counterparts body (even if it made no sense) and oh look! His newest body seems to have a leader toy coming out! How convenient.

 

Agreed on all counts.

 

Later in G1 he does get better, but at the beginning almost all of what he says is "Megatron has fallen! I am you knew leader now!"

Overall, I kinda hate him. A lot. Especially his WFC/FOC iteration.

 

I think love outweighs the hate in the fandom. :v

 

Not my favorite seeker but to me, Starscream really helped make the original show in terms of his quest for leadership. I just wish they gave Starscream a few episodes as leader towards the end of season 2, or let him take over in season 3.

 

G1 Screamer's a hilarious character and I love the "arguing like an old married couple" thing he has going on with Megatron. I haven't watched TFA yet so I don't know what that continuity's Starscream is like but I do like his design quite a lot.

I don't like TFP Starscream though. Don't know why.

 

Starscream is and always will be my favorite character.

Unless they take his character in new unexplored paths in the future, I think he's an A-lister who should take a break, just like Bumblebee.

 

Meh, he's okay. I honestly kind of feel like Starscream has overstayed his welcome...most of the recent cartoons do the same schtick with him, and it's gotten very boring to me. You can always count on Transformers cartoons having some plot about Starscream betraying Megatron and getting kicked out, and then becoming the main villain for a while via some power-up ability (or a plot that incorporates at least some of those ideas). He doesn't seem to lend himself to a variety of storylines. I think I'd enjoy Starscream more if he'd start taking a backseat and just be another Decepticon crew member. Downplay the traitor aspect. It could be fun to let someone like Skywarp or Thundercracker get more focus for a while.

 

Where's the option for love to hate him? 

 

Love him. I'll just never get tired of him, because of how flexible and dynamic he is as a character.

 

Love him the most out of the big 3 or 4 Decepticons.

Starscream just has more things going for him in the original cartoon.
