If it didn't say these were deluxes, I would say hey were core class. The definitely seem simplified and less expensive to make...

Uh, isn't the Fe version $300-$400 and the Rid $100-$200 on ebay or are you talking about animated?

That Skids had its robot mode based on IDW Skids, a design that had an established story behind it, and came out at a time where character redesigns were still more of a thing in the Generations style lines. Though most of the redesigns at the time came from repaints/remolds and most of the new molds were based on pre-existing comic designs for characters.

This Bulkhead is coming out during a time where now they've almost completely established Generations as a line that's faithful to character's orginal robot mode appearance/silhouette outside of some of the repaints/remolds. Some people say that maybe Legacy is going for making characters look like G1 versions of themselves but then the new Titan Metroplex pretty clearly looks like the Cybertron version of that character.

Yeah these really look like a step back compared with the figures we've been getting recently. I hope this isn't too representative of the whole legacy line :/

I think my biggest issue with this Bulkhead is that his proportions are way off. I don't see Bulkhead from this. He honestly feels more like a generic background Autobot to fill the ranks than a stand-out part of the cast.

The arms definitely need to be bigger and having shorter shins would also help. But as others have said, currently it just feels lazy.
Like, Mastermind Creations Bedrock, despite not looking terribly much like Bulkhead, at least feels more like the character.

Also, what's up with Bulkhead's arms? Both Prime and Animated had distinctive bulky forearms, but Legacy has twigs.

I hope all the legacy figures come with a normal weapon, and all the clear weapons can be removed and thrown in a drawer, or combine like Fossilizers, which seems the most promising option I could get behind.

Blast effects, or included human characters from the Prime show would have been a better gimmick IMO. But my kid likes Fossilizers, so I could support that.

It sells to kids, the people toys are mostly made for. Even then, a single new accessory per toy that isnt even taking anything away from them isn't like it's a detriment to the toys as is. Just don't look at it or toss it aside
The energon weapons are in addition to the characters primary guns. Skids has his two arm guns, bulkhead his mace. Blaster will more than likely have his black rifle and a new translucent blue weapon to spice up the line
    Bulkhead is a voyager

Totally fair. Just a playful nudge, I've been getting back into Animated and those resell prices have gotten more unfriendlier with time. A reasonable price may not be a readily available option for all the characters Legacy hopes to reference ( :

I also respect that converting these characters to G1 is a nice change of pace to you. Personally, it's more of a linear continuation of what's already been happening rather than a new exciting direction

Yeah, the arms would have looked better thicker. A chain on the wrecking ball would have been sweet too.

Yup this was my first reaction after seeing the pictures. They both look so...empty and light. Bulkhead certainly hides it better and I have to admit they've done a good job with sculpting whatever they have left, but still, it's very noticeable.

I'm worried about that too. I'm hoping that since the mold is apparently going to be retooled for some version of Optimus Prime (probably Beast Hunters?), they made it a bit larger than most recent Voyagers and that he'll stand roughly as tall as ER Prime and be a similar size in vehicle mode. And even if he's a bit shorter, his chest is so wide that I don't think he'll be as hilariously undersized in vehicle mode as Grapple and Inferno were. I won't mind if Skids is on the smaller side though, his car mode looks like it should be pretty small.

    Yeah, I spotted that too.
IIRC there was talk that Bulkhead was going to be a retool of a UT Optimus of some description. Could be this is part of that design.

Overall I'm not blown away by these two. Bulkhead is......... fine......... but I already have a really good Prime Bulkhead that I have no plans on replacing.
For somebody who wants a more Geewunny Bulkhead, this is probably gonna scratch that itch, but it's not doing it for me. It's very "Bayverse Hound" tho, which I kinda like.

Skids on the other hand is also.... fine.
I see that after 37 years, we're still not able to engineer a better head reveal than "big square of plastic on the back of their head". That's.... disappointing.
Buttload of back kibble that needed a better solution, too.

    I guess I'm buying the T30.

    Er, nah.

MMC "Bulkhead" looks much less than Bulkhead, it was just a lazy way to get the most from that mould. Not to mention that the Dicamus mould is not really their best despite that I kinda like it (I own both Dicamus and Titanika but both have really hindered articulation).
