I guess it's like me and Nightbeat. We both have to keep hoping that one day we get our perfect versions of each character, and for what it's worth, I genuinely hope we both do!

 

They do seem to be taking extra pains to make everyone much boxier and smooth out all rounded edges, which wouldn't be good on a Lugnut.

I have the Japanese shiny Voyager Lugnut in dark teal, though, I'm good on the Lugnut front.

I think I would love a G1 Arcee with Prime colours. I like pink, but I've never liked how pastel G1 Arcee is.

After thinking about Bulkhead a little more, I think the main problem I have with him is his legs, specifically his thighs. He's always been drawn as a big lad, but looking at his previous toys it doesnt feel that off anymore.

 

I think part of what’s so disappointing about this Bulkhead is the potential.

He’s such a great character with such great designs in both Animated and in TF Prime, but everything cool about those designs is now gone.

This new version is just a cube with normal legs and arms sticking out of it. The old designs were both really cool looking, but this just looks dorky as hell. Just a normal dude wearing a box around his chest, closer to inferno and grapple than Bulkhead.

Oh, and putting aside the original two designs, they also had designs from IDW and Robots in Diquise that they could have taken inspiration from as well, but none of that is here either. And it’s really too bad, he really deserved some actual care put into him.

 

We've only seen two characters. And Skids was always kinda boxy to begin with.

For what it's worth nightbeat does seem to be coming via leakers, but sounds like it could be a 2023 figure at the earliest.

 

Literally all of the Animated designs can work with the WFC aesthetic, but apparently they have to make it hard.

 

I'm actually hoping for a Generations Select Hauler down the line.

 

Of the figures left, Wave 1 has Core Skywarp, Hot Rod and Iguanus, Deluxe Dragstrip, Prime Arcee and Kickback, Voyager Blaster and Leader Laser Optimus. So you got the Deluxes a wee bit mixed up if you were listing what's yet to be seen at the event.

I know next to nothing about Skids so he'll pretty much be a pass.
Bulkhead is... somewhat disappointing. I like this design and I'm actually going to get him, but I would have preferred him to just be called 'Bulkhead' rather than 'Prime Bulkhead' as that gives the impression that he'd look like his Prime counterpart. It's like labeling a toy Armada Cyclonus but it's just Kingdom Cyclonus in Armada Cyclonus' colors (admittedly, I would buy that too).

 

Good things come to those who wait, 33 years seems long enough, I do see promise after we got the headmasters in the prime wars trilogy and it wouldn't be too far off to guess he's coming in the next few years

 

Not bad designs. Skids looks good and Bulkhead looks ok. However, this bulkhead design is different enough from his TFP design that I'm worried that the rumored TFP Knockout figure is not going to look like his actual show design.

 

It's basically Bulkhead if he didn't skip leg day.

 

I'm getting Skids. Could he be better? Sure, but he looks like he'll fit in better with the WFC 84 and 85 Autobots so he'll replace the Generations IDW-styled one for me.

Bulkhead is... Not what I was expecting. And not what I was hoping for. For me, Bulkhead kinda needs the round body and the stubby legs to really be Bulkhead. I first came to really like Bulkhead as a character in an early episode of Prime where he was on top of the Decepticon warship and running around like crazy on those little legs. As far as I'm concerned robots don't need to all have human-like proportions.

That said, I'll still get this new figure of him. I like the character and I actually really like the alt mode for him. I'm feeling pretty positive that a more Animated- or Prime-styled Bulkhead will be coming down the pike sometime in the future. Plus my First Edition Bulkhead is a really damned good figure so I'll still have that.

 

Bulkhead would make a great RB Salvage:

 

Core : Skywarp, Hot Rod and Iguanus
Deluxe : Prime Arcee, Dragstrip & Kickback
Voyager: Blaster
Leader: Laser Optimus

That should be the rest of wave 1 on Friday.
