Personally I was raised G1 to the core but..don't get me wrong I enjoyed Beast wars, prime ,and even Energon and Armada through my child but I don't like these 2. Design seems lesser than WFC at first glance.?. Hope to see better stuff Friday .

Ah well saves me some money. It would be tough to replace FE Bulkhead anyway, looking forward to how tiny this thing looks in comparison.

Except for when he is, like in the original reveal of the character's name back in 2011 before the movie released.
DOTM Wheeljack | Mirage revealed | Transformers Custom Toys | DOTM, ROTF | Movie Optimus Prime

Food for thought: Hasbro doesn't have the trademark for just 'Bulkhead' right now, do they? Maybe it's a situation where they stick a word in front like a prefix ala 'Solar Storm Grappel' and they just used Prime because that was the most recent line to have a Bulkhead.

The hypocrisy here is amazing. TF Prime Bulkhead wasn't even the original archetype - has everybody forgotten Animated Bulkhead?

I love how people keep attacking each other with opinions that mean nothing. carry on.

I'm just waiting for a nice beautiful pic of the new Legacy Logo to surface. :D

The gripes will be ignored in the meantime. :)

These look good enough. Not real sure about the translucent "energon" weapons but they don't seem to be taking the place of stuff the characters should have anyhow. It will be interesting to see how this version of Bulkhead is used in fiction, presumably he will have an important role in whatever show they come up with in the next couple years.

Bulkhead should be repainted with a new head as Optronix.

Optronix would have Optimus Prime colors, and his story would be that he and Orion Pax were two Autobots that had the potential to become the next Prime. Orion Pax was the one that was chosen, and Optronix remained as an archivist, eventually coming to Earth and taking on an Earth vehicle mode (Bulkhead's new toy).

I don't like the "Optronix and Orion Pax are the same single being" thing. I find it more interesting for the two to be separate. There's just more story potential.

D'ya know, I somehow suspected that might be the case...

I knew if I picked that example, everyone would focus on that and not see the bigger point.

So I tell ye what, let's take any of the characters from the 07 movie; why doesn't Optimus look like G1 Optimus? Why don't any of them look like their G1 selves?

That's your logic. That's your exact logic, but somehow more correct because this time, it's the continuity you like not looking like the original (and before you say this isn't a new universe: yes it is... it's clearly not the TFP universe, so it is by definition, not the same Bulkhead from TFP or TFA).

So you weren't kidding about double standards, it's just you forgot to specify whose double standards you were talking about...

And for the record, I do get it. There's never been an accurate Nightbeat toy ever, in the 33 years he's existed as a character. So I do understand. But my point is this: if you're going to say that "geewunners won't accept change" (that's a general you, not you-you, since I have no idea if you've ever even said that), then don't refuse to accept change when it happens to characters you like, because it makes you look like a hypocrite.

That Bulkhead looks pretty awesome to me.

I have that one Lugnut we got that wasn't animated style from ages ago. But I'd love to see them update that figure too.

Question did Bulkhead's original leak listing say Prime or was that just Knock Out's leak listing?

I ask because this Bulkhead looks more Animated based then Prime, which now makes me wonder if the leaked Arcee is Prime or Energon based.

Guess what? The name Mirage didn't make it into the final film. He's Dino on screen; therefore Mirage is a mistake. The plans beforehand are irrelevant. The Ferarri Autobot in DOTM is Dino.

Hypocrisy? What hypocrisy are you talking about? I'm really scratching my head on this one. I don't think you know what hypocrisy means, dude.'

What? No. No no no no no. Your analogy is totally incorrect. Apples and oranges.

Why does Optimus look different in G1 vs Unicron Trilogy vs the Movies vs Prime vs Cyberverse? They are different characters. They may have similar archetypes and traits, but they are different characters in different continuities with different liberties and queues taken in their design and personality. Movieverse murder Optimus is not G1 compassionate Optimus, who is not Unicron Trilogy Mini-con-hunting Optimus, who is not naive and young Animated Optimus Prime.

If Hasbro took Optimus Prime, made a toy of him that transformed into a fire engine, and marketed it as G1 Optimus Prime, fans would be upset. Not that Optimus Prime can't be a firetruck (Animated, RID2001, Cybertron), but the G1 depiction of Optimus Prime is a semi w/trailer, not a fire engine.

Ugly as hell Legacy Bulkhead is not a "new character" - it's an existing one with a fundamentally different alternate mode. The marketing says this is Prime Universe Bulkhead. You can argue that "this is a new G1 Bulkhead," and you would be wrong. If you think that design (head and mace aside) looks anything like Prime Bulkhead other than its green, you seriously need an eye exam.

Because they were dedicating half the line to BW remakes so that they'd be able to make nearly the entire main cast in the new style. They'd be reducing the potential market for the figure a lot if Legacy was a bunch of figures in different styles designed to fit in with lines that haven't been sold in 10+ years.
Just taking the HFTD design, upscaling it to Leader size, coloring it purple and teal, and tweaking the engineering to make his robot mode more stable and better articulated would be perfect IMO.

Notice how they both have Energon infused weapons. That’s a theme for the line.

    I’m enjoying this thread.

Ive said this several pages back, and so I’ll say it again: people say that we’ve had G1 for 15 years, when we’ve really had updated G1, IDW G1, G1 inspired, kinda G1, and G1 ish and it’s only been recently that we’ve gotten actual G1.

So maybe it’s everyone else’s turn to get kinda ‘their fiction’ and when they turn 50 they finally get their slavish version.

Been wanting to see Bulkhead since it was leaked. Been hearing it was G1-ified. Felt good about that because I've been wanting a toy of the character that fits my current collection. Saw the title, felt thrilled. Saw the toy, even more thrilled. Then the reactions and the winds are out of my sails.

Feels weird liking something that's bad after thinking generally liked toys looked bad. Will say that I am hoping for a fan mode that makes him more squat. Bulkhead is one of my favorite new additions, be it the TFA or TFP version, and it does stink a little bit that he doesn't have all the design traits of the others. Hopefully if they do RID15 Strongarm (another newbie I covet) she carries over more design traits. This one seems to really continue the weird relationship between Bay Hound and Bulkhead. To be honest, I might just pretend this is an upgraded Hound given that Hasbro seems to have forgotten Hound existed and loved Earth. Not sure if this screams "gentle giant" enough for that, though.

    Pros:
    - Cool head sculp that evokes TFP when he's in "wrecking" mode.
    - Alt mode looks like it'll scale well with my car bots.
    - Alt mode very reminiscent of the vehicles around where I live, which I have always wanted to see as a G1 toy
    - Weirdly Reveal the Shield feeling to me?
    - A new design, finally Hasbro
    - Don't have to go down a new collecting rabbit hole; will look good with WFC toys
    - Not too hollow outside the cab

    Cons:
    - Shitty tiny translucent mini gun (at least make it huge like AOE Hound's)
    - Fully clear plastic cab
    - Needs more squat proportions
    - Seems a little contradictory to the pros, but an SUV or SWAT vehicle would have brought him closer to his previous designs

Skids looks straight up bad to me, though. I wasn't planning on getting him anyway simply due to space reasons (weird how I went from wanting the guys I want, to wanting the whole crew to only getting the guys that really stand out all over again.) I was considering the rumored Burn Out but her arms would be floating and that's not a good look. Vehicle mode looks cool but like it might be a bit big.
