Possibly, but if they hadn't been building up expectations over the past few months, I doubt the reactions would be nearly as strong. And from what's been said about the Legacy line so far, it sounds like the lore is going to be about non-G1 characters getting imported into G1 Spider-verse style and getting G1-style designs, so if that'd been made clear from the beginning, that might've also mitigated it a bit.

The discourse surrounding this figure is amazing. There are people that are justifiably disappointed by this Bulkhead figure, but everyone is hyper focused on generalizing TFP fans as “entitled” because literally one dude said the figure is an “insult to fans”. I certainly don’t think folks should get personal or claim that “Hasbro has insulted the fans” of course.

For me, it’s just disappointing that after three years of giving us show accurate figures, that mission statement is thrown out the window the moment Hasbro starts bringing in characters from other continuities.

Especially when there are much better references out there for the character.

I actually agree. That's why I specified as specifically: "Geewun" and not "G1".

    ...Yeah, dumb joke perhaps.

    This, 100%
I’m also NOT understanding a lot of peoples disappointment with skids, he looks like he jumped right from earthrise or kingdom? He looks accurate, articulate, and his ankles aren’t on ball joints!

Armada Starscream's design, but in G1 colors, upside down Decepticon symbols too. Big ass null rays on his arms (rather than his shoulders), no swords, no Minicon.

If I may, as a fan of both animated and prime, I can understand the disappointment fully. We just had kingdom with beast wars characters and their toys were basically redos of their previous incarnations. It wasn’t put through the G1 filter, these were straight up redos of old show accurate beast wars designs. So to now have Bulkie just be the character put through the G1 filter, it is a little disappointing. With that said, I do still love the idea, and now excited(worried?) what Arcee may look like. Plus you know… voyager first edition Bulkhead will always be here who is practically perfect.

RTS Lugnut actually evoked the original Animated design while adapting it to a different aesthetic and adding some original design choices to it. This Bulkhead is terribly generic, there’s little actually tying it to either the Animated or Prime designs. It could just as easily make for a Grapple or Inferno (or a Prime, as it’s supposedly pre-tooled for). I’m all for making new designs of characters in different aesthetics but this is so soulless and nothing. They cared more about making a base mold that could be fit for other uses than making something that actually evokes Bulkhead

Nice. Based on that I'd say Bulkhead will be about the height of Earthrise Optimus.

Yeah, that's the thing. Hasbro was never going to commit to remaking the aesthetic of an old show that doesn't have a line in production for it anymore.

Friday during PulseCon we should see the rest of wave one.

I think that combining the different Bulkheads and Movie Hound (aka basically Bulkhead) and making it have the G1 Aesthetic is what the designers of Legacy Bulkhead were going for.
Also, looking at the Energon Weapons, I almost think they are going to do the Transformers RID 2015 Energon Armor Minicon thing where the Energon Weapons will combine into an Energon Creature. An Energon MONSTER. I think that each Wave will come with those Energon Weapons and that they will combine into a creature. Because Skids' Axe-Gun looks like the Spine of a Spinosaurus and Bulkhead's Chain Gun resembles a Torso. Maybe that's the gimmick of this line. Energon Weapons which combine into their own little creatures.

I agree that the animated vehicle mode doesn’t look like the TFP vehicle mode, but the animated vehicle definitely has more in common to the TFP vehicle than the vehicle they chose for the new toy.

specifically, the new toy is a flat bed. This isn’t accurate to either.

I think people are getting way too hung up on a product blurb. So what if they call it Prime-inspired? Once it's in your hands you can call it Sally for all that it matters.
I see it as a character reimagined to fit a G1 aesthetic. That's it.
Getting hung up on some advertising fluff is weird to me, especially since some of this fandom accepts 3P figures with completely different names than what they are supposed to represent and happily slap the intended name on them.

Damn it Hasbro, why do we have to have different front wheels and rear wheels with different ways to attach them? It's such an eye sore.

Just noticed that it looks like Bulkhead will have Siege/Kingdom Ultra Magnus' inner bot mode transformation for the arms.

    Bummer...
