?

Do you think this new product could be stepping away from what we love about Transformers as toys?

From what I've seen, it looks like his walking is more of a shuffling. Am I incorrect? This also looks like the kind of thing that could benefit from those little adhesive rubber strips put on his feet to give him more grip. Any thoughts? I have him ordered but am wavering on canceling it.

Yes, it has that shuffle style walk that is very common in bipedal robots like this. I would however not recommend adding rubber to the feet because the toy has many movements that require the feet to slide freely.

    Thanks!

For those that have him, aside from the initial cool factor, do you actually think that this is worth the money? What has me most intrigued is the ability to customize movements and what people might come up with in the future.

Same. Hasbro Pulse must not ship to many of these at a time. I ordered mine about a day after it went live so I must be at the tail end of shipping priority.

That’s going to mostly depend entirely on what you consider "worth the money" when it comes to your collection. Speaking for myself, I just received mine and I can't get enough of it. Granted, this figure appeals to me not just as a transformers fan, but as a robotics nerd. I was also in a position where the hefty price tag wasn't too much of a problem for me. In the end, if this figure is too expensive or if the novelty doesn't do anything for you, there's no shame in skipping it.

Unequivocally, yes. If you have any attachment to the Optimus Prime character and can afford this piece, you should get it. You will regret not getting it later.

I am not easily swayed. I passed on Unicron with no regrets despite the cool factor. Robosen Optimus feels special to me.

From what I heard. Hasbro got a shipment of Robosen OP’s in unexpectedly early. They randomly chose people that preordered the first release that was set for August but got pushed back to November. All the others in that first run group will get theirs November 1.

That makes sense. I thought originally that it was a November release date. Nice to see some people here got theirs early.

So much this, I'm really hoping the community around this stays vibrant for a long time with moves and upgrades. My first manual pose was "draw me like one of your French girls" which executed flawlessly on the way down, but he can't get up again without a reboot... I expect a full library of TikTok and Fortnite dances. And I hope they update the app so you can see an in-app model of the angles and positions without needing to run the physical review - full virtualization would cut down on stress.

Curious what will come from 3P as well, for instance a hinged head plate would have been nice so you didn't need to totally remove it for a good bot mode.

Posting in case anyone else runs into the same issue:

I received Optimus Prime about a week ago. After unboxing and fully charging we attempted to turn on Optimus, but after greeting us he will only repeat “Right upper arm cable is disconnected…”. The arm does move while he settles himself. I've contacted Robosen Support by email and phone. The person I spoke with on the phone said he would forward my issue on to support (thought I was talking to support?). The cable does appear to be attached and I'm not opposed to opening him up, but it's a lot of screws just to get in there so it's my last resort. I also own the Robosen T9, so not my first rodeo with them - never had issues with T9.

Also spoke with Hasbro Pulse on the phone and told me I had to speak with Robosen.

Really hope I'm the only one out there that gets a dud, but in case I'm not I'll let you know how I end up resolving this -- and if anyone else out there has any ideas it would be great!

I sincerely apologize that this has happened to you and you are not able to enjoy Optimus.

Yesterday, when I was browsing through Robosen’s Facebook page, specifically the one set up for Robosen Optimus Prime, I recall someone having a similar issue. One of the “admins” there I believe is helping the owner.

    perhaps worth try?

    please keep us updated!

So when doing custom coding, do you have to manually manipulate the figure, or is it possible just to enter in the different values that someone posts?
