I hear that Pattinson is a serious actor with serious skills, if that's the case, I'm hoping that folks can eventually move away from the Twilight nonsense. Also, let me contrast Pattinson to John Cena. I did not think John had acting skills because on the surface I thought he was "just a pro wrestler who gets some big roles." But... believe it or not, Suicide Squad has made me a believer of John. Sometimes you just gotta give people a chance :D

Pro Wrestling is just a stage performance with a lot of physical activity, skills would naturally build up from all those years in the squared circle : )

I don’t really have that much investment in this, but I thought some of Robert’s scenes sounded dumb due to yelling crazy.

I’m honestly not a fan of short hair but I’m sure Kravitz will do just fine. Same for Andy Serkis as Alfred, he has such a cool, unique voice and it’s cool to hear it naturally and not as someone like Gollum or even Caesar. For all the problems with Snoke and his execution (no pun intended), man was Serkis’s voice so cool.

It looks okay stylistically. I’m reminded that since this is Batman, this is a place we’d naturally get lines like “I’m vengeance”. Since WB and other studios tried to apply dark and gritty to almost everything, losing the point that it was tonally appropriate for The Dark Knight to do it since it was a Batman story, I have gotten to the point that I snickered hearing that - despite this being the setting you’d hear it in. Oh well. I never disliked Batfleck, let’s see how Pattinson does.

That scene where he’s in the tunnel fighting the goons barely illuminated by the gunfire was pretty cool.

Hundreds of wrestlers who couldn't act their way out of a wet paper bag even after a decade in the WWE show this isn't true. Even some of the greatest promo cutters of all time could not make the transition to regular acting. Rock, Cena, and Batista are the exception, not the rule.

Agreed. Cena showed comedy timing and a naturalistic presence in Suicide Squad that he honed in pro wrestling but that subtle pathos he also displayed was a skill he practiced to become a serious actor. Go watch SS and pay attention to the subtle way he demonstrated a naive earnestness in his role as Peacemaker. He murders because he has a simplistic way of seeing the world that’s childlike. He thinks he’s doing the right thing because deep down he wants approval. You can’t hate him cause he genuinely thinks he’s good and wants to be seen as good. It’s layered and not acted clumsily. I thought he was great.

Rock and Batista have skill too. People think actors are just a pretty face with a head full of rocks but even giving a crappy acting performance is hard. Acting is not easy.

on second thought, Ronda Rhousy (spelling?)'s acting chops in Fast and Furious 7.

She went from MMA to WWE didn't she? I never paid attention to those things.

But performing in athletic stage plays every single week for years will help hone your chops, if you’ve got some skill to hone. You can succeed in wrestling without the ability to talk or act (have size, a look, crazy athleticism, a good manager or gimmick) but the biggest names in wrestling became the biggest names because they could do everything. The guys you listed nailed it and became Hollywood stars, but even guys like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes have gotten praise for their acting skills (just not nabbing big blockbuster roles) and guys like Samoa Joe have broken into Voice Acting.

The Rock, Batista, and others have said that when he got into acting, the Hollywood directors/producers/staff were always amazed at the wrestlers work ethic and their ability to nail something in only a few takes since you only get one try in love performances.

I haven't followed this thread but is this "new" The Batman supposed to be a one off or is this a reboot with other films down the pipeline. Honestly, my son brings this up almost daily. Why not just have this be a batman beyond type thing? This guy is much younger and looks pretty thin and he's emo. I think he'd make an excellent Terry McGinnis. Set it in the post apocalyptic future and bang! A different Batman that hasn't had the movie treatment.

That "What have you done?" Shout is definitely wonky, though the filter of the prison intercom isn't helping. They've already played with the audio once in the Sunday Night Football version of the trailer, so I expect some aspects are still being edited.

Reeves apparently has a trilogy planned, and yes, it is separate from all other Batman films.

They haven't done Batman Beyond yet because they haven't made a movie where Batman is "established" since George Clooney. Except for Affleck, who they decided to introduce as a cynical, bitter sociopath.

There's a rumor that the Batgirl film is going to be Batman Beyond-esque with an older, retired Michael Keaton mentoring Barbara.

Punk and Rhodes are good...for wrestlers. Not compared to actual actors. And that goes for the vast majority. In all of wrestling history, who other than the Rock has been more over than Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan? Ever? Both were hugely popular in their day. Both had fantastic mic skills...within a wrestling context. But both were horrible actors.

I mean, the guy is a millionaire playboy who generally likes to get his hands dirty-- In my imagination I see an entire montage of him checking the oil on the car, running virus checks on the bat computer, sewing up torn pieces of the bat suit and doing other mundane but completely awesome "bat-maintenance." He only has Alfred around to cook, clean the mansion and run interference when people call or look for him. He sleeps in the morning and only actually fights crime at NIGHT. So you got a lot of time to kill in the afternoon and early evening.

When the batcave's garage door jams up, you think Alfred is going to drop everything and fix it? He could, he's just busy doing other stuff.

He got killed by Hush at one points but they retconned that.....then I think the next writing team forgot about him and his current status is unknown.

Of course, Harold's also known for only showing up in "Hush" long enough to admit he's been betraying Bruce and gets shot in the head and forgotten about. Glad to see him in a modern comic with Duke up there.

Poor Harold. Hush was my intro and exit with that character. He tragic motivations to betray Bruce in Hush but they were also not really logical either.

IDK if it was posted but heres the BTS reel the showed before the trailer some cool shots in there

    A2CA505E-820E-4B6D-B16F-ED897219C0CB.jpeg D7DE824B-4166-45A9-8306-C8375DE92059.jpeg 6CE843D9-A7BE-4218-BDBA-7BD564C2F04A.jpeg
Also here’s a TV spot for the trailer and they use a different take of “what have you done?” And it doesn’t sound as bale like or muffled since the audio is from Riddlers room through a sound proof glass.
