No official outlets have reported on his death yet. I wouldn't expect something like this to headline MSN or something...but I'd like to think we'd have something more concrete by now than just Hal Rayle posting something he heard. I'll couch my condolences in a caveat in that I hope this is just a rumor to soon be dispelled. Jack is a marvelous voice actor and, if he IS still alive, I hope he reads and realizes how many people would miss him when he does indeed pass away.
God, this past week sure has hit hard .... another big loss to the TF community. And gotta say - "Jettison some weight or I'll never make it to Cybertron!" has to be one of my all time fave line deliveries from the '86 movie. May he rest in peace.
I think mods may need to change the title and front page to this news being a rumor for now. We don't know for sure if Jack is really dead since Hal Rayle may have jumped the gun here.
Wikipedia has been updated acknowledging his passing. To me, his voices for Cyclonus, Astrotrain, and Omega Supreme will forever be the definitive voices for these unforgettable characters. RIP.
Sad news he did some excellent voice acting for Transformers. His hate plague infected Ultra Magnus was terrifying! Well done sir.
Wikipedia: 7. "G1 Voice Actor Jack Angel (Omega Supreme, Ultra Magnus, Astrotrain & More) Has Passed Away". tfw.2005.com. Retrieved October 19, 2021. Yep, this thread is their news source. I'm still waiting for official confirmation from his family or such. I'm not saying he hasn't passed away...just saying we need to be sure before we put him 6 feet under virtually.
While The original Star Trek premiered nearly two decades before The Transformers, I often compare the two series because they were both the first in long lasting franchises that go on to this day. Also, by comparisons, if you look at the Seven original Trek Actors, 3 are gone, and of the remaining four Shatner is 90, Nichols is 88, Koenig is 85, and Takei is 84. Compare that with the 12 Actors who voiced MTMTE from the original Transformers. *Assuming* Mr. Angels passing is not being erroneously reported, then we just passed the halfway mark with 7 gone, and only 5 remaining. Michael Bell is 83, Peter Cullen 80, Frank Welker 75, Dan Gilvezan 70, and Corey Burton 66. Again that is just MTMTE. I know many more talented actors contributed to Seasons 1-4 AND TF:TM, several we have lost as well. Each time this happens I am very much saddened, but also, more disappointed that Hasbro never tried to recapture the magic of the original series and use the amazing talented actors while we had them. I know Welker and Cullen have been cast in many other TF Media and Live Action Films, but it isn\'t quite the same. I think the TF: Devastation game was as close as we will ever get, I guess. Also, just food for thought, when I see comments about *waiting* for original Transformers fans to \"die off\", so they can finally get new toys of their favorite series specifically. Not cool, just saying, not cool at all.
Hal Rayle was misinformed and has now redacted all is announcements of jacks death and left this on facebook
