Well, you're right to some degree, but it depends if you're referring to internal or external factors. Any public communication would align with the calendar year.

My point was that a fiscal year is not fixed. The calendar year is.

 

Generally speaking, yes. Which is why I'm expecting Star Saber in Q4 2022 (Oct. - Dec. 2022).

 

My prediction for when star saber comes

Earliest date: October 2022, Optimistic but not likely scenario September 2022

Latest: December 2022, worst case scenario, delayed to January or February 2023 due to unforeseen issues.

 

Don't most "fiscal years" align with tax season? At least in the US?

 

The U.S. government uses October-September, with September 30th being the end of the year - or close to that date - since a 4-4-5 accounting schedule is sometimes used. This year, the September accounting period and FY21 for much of the government (and my own employer) both ended on Friday, October 1, though a lot of contracts and appropriations used the Sept. 30th end date.

 

Good greif, the Q4 of a company's fiscal year is when that company says it is. Most can start on October 1st. Some can start in March or June. It's up to that company when they choose it to be.

In Hasbro's case looking at the investor page information as well as the reporting times the Q4 would start in October and end December with the reporting released in February.

Now can we go back to arguing about something silly?

 

Each company can pick it's own fiscal year though they have to get approval to change it. It's an ENORMOUS headache and, along with Christmas sales/returns, why many if not most retailers still start Q1 in Feb.

IRS and depending on state laws, their tax authority or corporate regulators, amongst others. I was working for a retailer that moved Q1 from Feb to May and they started prepping 2 years prior.
