This thing is like a mini masterpiece....

...because MP Tracks wasn't that good either.

That leg transformation sucked and the tabs that keep it together aren't big enough.

Get this only if you have a Tracks-sized hole in your collection. It looks better than the RTS one but the appearance is the only thing it really has going for it.

Got my copy. Tolerances are what prevents this from being as good as it could be. Lower leg panel on the left leg doesn’t stay connected well with the shin on robot mode, tabs are shallow on both shins but left is affected more than right. Both hips are loose. Transformation is pleasant and somewhat intuitive UNTIL trying to tab the windshield to the hood. Not a fan of having to flex the side tabs of the upper frame to clip onto the sides of the legs either in car mode.

Articulation is decent and car mode is mostly solid when everything is tabbed together.

Came to this thread wondering if what I was experiencing with this figure was unique and it turns out I might have one of the better QC releases. Leg panels on mine don't stay like they should in either mode. I can understand the analogy of this missing the mark like the MP version did. My biggest disappointment with the figure is probably that that the arms don't lock in for jet mode, although I might have been expecting too much there.

The figure is ok. It looks good in both modes especially when next to his line mates. The RTS version is a far superior toy, but it also doesn't look near like G1 toon Tracks like this does. I'll keep an eye out for a re-release of this to see if the QC tolerance issues are corrected, plus I wouldn't mind having a more flamey hood deco.

Not sure what the hate is all about. Put some Kiki's Loose Joints here and there and hes great. I do admit though, the hood tempo is trash and could be better. But that is all. I can tell hasbro was trying a little too hard to base him on the MP. Sadly it does include the weaknesses of the MP design.

But again, i honestly have no real complaints for the cost it is what itbis.

Picked this guy up last night. I do hate to complain, but this guy gave me a run for my money trying to transform it. Lol
I believe I have all of the same problems that almost everyone else has. Legs won't tab, hood needs a lot of tinkering and force to clip in, and the window sort of rubs on other plastic, so I really didn't feel good transforming this thing. I also noticed I have stress marks and random scratches out of the box. Despite this, I will throw in some good and say that I like the nice compact car mode and not mode looks cool as well. Just sort of sucks that my copy is a floppy mess

I wanted Road Rage instead because I liked the red color a lot more, but it looks like I'm reading that it has most of the same issues, so I'll probably pass on her.

Are the thighs folded/tucked in all the way?

There shouldn't be any gap at the area that's painted blue in front of the windshield and the front fenders.

A gap between the front fenders near the front of the hood/bumper where the tiny round pegs are isn't uncommon (as the front fenders like to pull away up there) but, everything else should be super flush.

There is no way to avoid the windshield rub/flex when you're "clipping" it into place on the roof.

However, you don't need to force the windshield tabs into the hood if you have good dexterity and are patient enough using an alternate transformation sequence (once you get used to it, those tabs will glide in and out of place):

I apparently won the QC lottery. I haven't noticed anything wrong with mine and the leg panels seem to peg in fine and hold together ok.

Haha, I have one in my bag right now that I will open when I get home and this is the exact comment I was hoping to see when I checked the thread. Good to know there are good ones in circulation. Hopefully I’ve got a winning ticket here as well.

You gotta trim the ball joint a bit, but otherwise it's a perfect fit for transformation.

At least the legs hold together reasonably well.

A lot of the complaints about this figure I've been hearing, here and elsewhere online, were valid and useful to know. But I think they were also a bit over-exaggerated, not that they were entirely incorrect; just that they very nearly put me off of getting the toy. Which would have been a shame; since after a little fixing, he looks great and is close to exactly what I want from a mainline Tracks toy.
The main problems that folks listed, and the solutions I used were as follows:
    • The Loose Hips
Right out of the box, they were floppy as heck. Easily fixed with the ol' floor polish trick, there's fairly easy access to the front and back of his hips to work with. They now give me no problems. I'd barely count this as a problem, I often have to do this with new toys, and sometimes have to it with old toys.
    • The Shin tabs (or lack thereof)
Yeah, these were not helping the panels tab together at all. I took @rlmiddleton 's pictures as a guide, glued part of the plastic ties to the nub, trimmed them, and now they work a treat; no problem tabbing in and holding!
    • The bonnet/hood tabs
These were a problem for sure, getting in the way and making the transformation needlessly complicated and fiddly. Though I was nervous to do so, I decided to sand them down like I did with Grapple's too-long pegs, which basically perfected the figure (not including 3rd party upgrades). I took an emery board and sanded it down, the tabs barely stick out now. The tabs from the legs going up into the bonnet, and the tabs near the rear view mirrors hold it together just fine on their own. Also it becomes far less fiddly, and transformation takes me a minute or two, tops.
    • The Tail-fins
Okay, so clearly this toy could have used a little extra QC, but this is such an non-problem. Unlike the other problems I had, this requires no tools or special equipment, just pop them off, switch them and replace, easy! I've had figures misassembled before, and this was not nearly the most difficult one to solve.

So while not everyone has the tools, equipment, time or inclination to perform fixes (nothing wrong with any of that by the way); I do, and I'm glad I wasn't entirely put-off getting this handsome fella. The work I had to put in was very much so worth it.

I picked him up today, even though he's not one of my favorite characters. Great looking figure, but a pain to transform.

I jumped in late thinking I’d win the qc lottery too but I’m probably gonna grab a bottle of that stuff. My copy has loose hips and that blue car piece on the left leg doesn’t stay connected to the shin well in robot mode.

I had to do both hips, one knee and both ankles. I may end up doing the leg tabs, they hold mostly fine but they are easy to knock out of place.

Nice figure otherwise. I like the Generations Tracks too, but I always thought he was too big and wide. This one is appropriately skinny with a petite alt mode. Definitely would prefer G1 toy style flames though.

Actually, you can just snip off those windshield tabs. It still holds together in car mode, and the transformation is significantly easier.

I have since gotten to experience this mold firsthand in the form of Road Rage, so let me amend this: I take it all back. There is nothing good about this mold. It is perhaps the worst Hasbro Transformer I've ever handled. I am grateful to have gotten it for free from my friend Smokescreen38, and I still feel ripped off. It doesn't hold together in robot mode, it doesn't hold together in car mode, and it's deeply unpleasant to transform. It's a very bad figure.

Had I not been able to "fix" mine, I'd agree 100%.

But I guess I can't pass my opinion off on a figure that is an exception to the majority. :/
....in this case, a "heavily fixed" one in order to work.

Shame all can't experience one the way it was meant to be, because truthfully it IS an awesome figure.
