Despite the movie being a flop the figures move quickly in my area which is what Hasbro would base their decisions on the toys on; if that’s indicative of the market as a whole then the toys are worth Hasbro’s continued push regardless of the entertainment.
Agreed. I personally think the biggest issue we're going to see with the Snake-Eyes film flopping is that it may be a long time before they try to make another film for GI Joe if at all. That and we won't see the upswing in offerings as we saw after the success of the 2007 Transformers film.
This really is a topic for the movie discussion thread, but they really screwed up when they entirely changed who Snake Eyes is, in the movie. I mean, I sort of understand why a non talking hero movie would be hard to make, but it's been done repeatedly in the cartoons. It could've been figured out. So, Snake Eyes didn't make any sense for the character they were making the movie about. Hence, movie big flop. Transformers may have made the characters look different, but they didn't change much about who they were in the 2007 film. Except, Bumblebee didn't talk, because radio funny? Anyways, I'd have expected the people in charge at Has-Bruh to have made sure the character wasn't completely reinvented into a completely different character entirely. Any one of his traits could've been changed, except the one thing that makes Snake Eyes, Snake Eyes. He doesn't TALK. That's what his character is known for. Wether he's a commando, or a ninja, he doesn't SPEAK. Good job Hasblow. You made a ninja movie with a G.I. Joe title, but not a Snake Eyes movie. So yes, the movie kinda sucks. But aside from Storm Shadow's okra thighs and The Baroness' giraffe neck, the figures are still really cool. That's where the money is at because Hasbro is a toy company. And in that regard, they're bangin' 'em out with style. But seriously, they really shouldn't let people mess up their characters so much. That's my two cents.
Given the last year and a half as well as current events, I don't believe we have a baseline "normal" established.
Ah, no. I really don't buy too many Mezco figures as I don't really like cloth goods on 6" figures. They look nice, but I'll be sticking with Lightning Collection. Plus I'm getting out of the "high-end" action figure game for the most part.
I was just looking at the length of the different panels for PulseCon and it looks like the GI Joe panel not only specifically says it's Classified (literally title "GI Joe Classified Series Product Panel") but that it looks to be close to an hour (starts at 11:05 and the following panel doesn't start 12:15). So, hopefully, we get a lot of stuff shown off. Though since the panel is specifically titled Classified Series it makes me think we may not see anything for the Wal-Mart Retro line.
I am thinking GI joe in General. I do agree that rereleasing the HISS 3 was a big blunder. We already had the original hiss and that started to accumulate. The figures on the other did pretty well though I am seeing a lot of Stalker though. As well as a few Cobra troopers. We will have to see.
Found Breaker and the RAM cycle, yesterday. Only the second Cobra Island item, after C.I. Roadblock, that I’ve ever found in the store!
I see alot of Stalkers and HISS as well. I interpret that as the market for the line isn’t that big and the troopers are likely being bought up by just a few collectors who only pick up one or two as Stalkers, but those troop building collectors aren’t troop building vehicles. The first HISS seemed readily available at Walmarts in my area at it’s release. I found several on clearance at the end of its run.
Found a lone classified Cobra Island Baroness at Target this afternoon. I forgot about the 25% off. I had a 5 dollar coupon when I got a flu shot. If anyone is looking for her let me know. I am looking for 40 plus shipping.
Roadblock doesn't dare to be stupid, that's why he makes sure to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle. So, now you know... YOOOO JOE!!!!
Maybe it's just me but Breaker looks like Bradley Cooper if you squint and tilt your head to the side. LOL
....and most of the times they look like....no good. At least the one I have (SuperReeves) has some weird proportions, so Im also sticking to big H on GIJoe, Rangers, etc. A little off topic but you mentioned something that called my attention.
Yeah, I really hope Warden stays on with the Joe team. Tbh I’m quite impressed with whatever lines he has been involved in. I haven’t got any of the Retro Joes…my buddies were surprised by my decision to skip the line. It isn’t that the line is bad or anything. It’s just that I’m focusing on 6 inch to 7 inch scale. I also can’t provide any answers with Hasbro information anymore but I have lost contact with some of my er, insiders. Previously, I know of some folks who could could provide me with some info. Example, why Encore G1 Fort Max was double taped (factory workers forgot to put in some of extras), “unreleased” figures being sold etc. Yeah, I noticed that movie SE and SS are moving quite well in my part of the world too. Tbh I felt that things like shipping was going back to normalcy…at least in my part of the world. Hasbro’s ML, SW and TFs were on schedule along with the McFarlane stuff. Heck, I’m some instances they were arriving ahead of time.
